The second "rule" in AseanNow forum rules is a simply one: "Be Nice, Be Respectful."

Yet it seems that many posters seek out ways to responded in a negative manner to Opinions and Threads which are helpful, or are seeking help and suggestions, or are kind and supportive, or are commentary on social and human narratives.

What do you believes drives members to engage in so much negativity, even when the topic of a post is upbeat and supportive of other members and society has a whole?  If you are one of these people who engage in constant sarcasm, cynicism, nihilism, mockery, and ridicule - why do you do it?

They enjoy it. People either do stuff or criticise stuff.

Mostly lefties doing nothing and attacking OPs. Right wingers built the world. Lefties would still be in caves without them.

Hopefully to provide a bit of info, if asked, or not, and not already answered, or maybe some humor to brighten up the negativity & hate that dominates.   Occasionally correct a troll's misinformation.   

 

Hopefully not the latter, that much, unless I think is needed.  Aside from most troll's misinfo, I probably don't even see.

Lots of old people are just down on life. It didn't turn out how it was planned. Nothing positive, hence their posts.

 

Next is jealousy. People can't take others doing way better than them in whatever area. 

 

If all I had was 2 week holidays in Thailand, I sure wouldn't want to hear about my life either 😛

The drive is simply to be able to come up with an answer to the enormous amount of garbage that is posted here on a daily basis. To be able to actually point out the severe difficulties many members have here, the replies just have to be down on their level, so they at least have a chance to understand it.

How about just giving your honest opinion? No one has to agree with it though.
