Most boring cities in Thailand

The best cities are the ones with least tourists/expats in my honest opinion

Tourist & expats are easy to avoid anywhere.  Udon had plenty, and I avoided them with no problem.   Did enjoy our monthly meet ups, and met a few that became good friends.   Been to their house, and them to ours, but I'm not really a social person.

Monthly meet ups were fun & interesting, but once a month is more than enough for me, as kind of a private person anyway.  And with family, no real interest for a large circle of friends.

Totally agree on that one. at least back then a bustling little city, full of energy, chaos, great and fantastic food, cheap massage parlors, plenty of nightlife (although mostly malaysia/chinese/karaoke themed). Alltogether great fun and nothing but fond memories. Sadly haven't been back there for a while.

Same here, not been for some time but remember it as a busy little place. The road by the train station had some decent bars and caffs, worth a few nights. Sungai Kolok pretty similar.

When people speak disparagingly of tourists and expats do they mean people like themselves and us on here.?

All inclusive.

Expats ... met very few, that I'd consider, or want to be friends with.   And I've met a lot, through local forum in Udon Thani.

Tourist ... really have no desire talking to stranger, unless really bored.   Though have met a few, that were quite interesting and a pleasure to talk with.

I really don't have much in common with most expats or tourist, and this forum is pretty much all the proof one needs.  No different than life back in USA, and my 'social circles', very small there also.

Not a sports fan, I treat woman as equals, not as sex object, and I don't care about your vices, want to be around you when indulging or hear about you cheating on your partner, or who and how many you are banging, so I really have little in common with most men I meet, or met, or worked with.

Tourists and expats comes in many varieties, but expats who works here is to prefer more than many who retired early or because our of other reasons.

I would say expats who manage to keep routines as they would do home, is easier to get along with than those just gave up everything and live like every day is an holiday.

Excessive lifestyle be it alcohol and drugs doesn't mix well with my lifestyle, and everytime we are going to be social or socializing it have to be alcohol, I tap out, and then you have minimized your friendship window down to very few people in reach.

My.own preferred conversations mainly revolve around the main points of the 39 Articles and the Council of Trent so I have not too much to say. But after all these years I still have a circle of friends in Pattaya and fewer years but still friends in the Nakhon. Not really a social drinker or socialising person nowadays but more than happy with what I have. As are you yourself.

What about guys who retired after their Retirement age, 66 in UK? Do you prefer them to the ones who retired early.

You sound like a typical Norwegian, everything by the book.

Depending on the book, right ?

There is a age gap and also depending on mutual interests also, so to have an relation, you need a good reason to hang out, right ? Im not doing much of my previous activities anymore, where you met out of natural reasons, travel and dine because you have to same passion.

What do you retirees do? Meet up at the pub, play pool, watch sport and drink a pint?
