If that was applied according to the new rule, and with careful timing, that could be done twice in a calendar year without the hassle of a non-O marriage extension, perhaps.

No.

Best advice IMO for those that qualify for Non O retirement or marriage to obtain that visa and subsequent 12 month extension + multi reentry permit.

Zero trouble from immigration stay and exit as it suits you.

Zero worries

The "two VE entries per calendar year" part of the new regime intrigues me. Whether this will be rigorously applied or strategically ignored - probably both/neither.

Dr Jack in another thread considered the possibility of  VE (60 days)+extension to visit Thai wife (another 60 days)+a 30-day extension, ie 150 days on a single entry. If that was applied according to the new rule, and with careful timing, that could be done twice in a calendar year without the hassle of a non-O marriage extension, perhaps........

Most immigration offices stopped offering the ability to get both of these when visa exempt was increased to 60 days. Some no longer offer the 60-day at all if you entered as a tourist.

Not calling you a liar, but any evidence to support that. Any specific offices?

Of course there's the unresolved issue of whether "visa-exempt" is a "tourist" non-visa or not.

Multiple posts from people stating the exact situation.

I'm seeing a bunch of reports online of different people getting refused trying to EXIT the country yesterday on Nong Khai border and told to fly out. Even with existing Non-O visas..

How can they stop people from leaving the country 😐

That could make life quite difficult if you went to the border on the last day of your visa expecting to cross over and were refused, by the time you've booked a flight and travelled back to Bangkok,  you'll be on a few days overstay.

I doubt that they actually stop people from leaving. What might happen is that they tell people that they won't be allowed back in, so they are advised against leaving if their sole intention is to bounce back to Thailand.

What you mean with "existing Non-O visas" isn't clear. There are no multi-entry Non-O visas anymore, so if you had a Non-O visa and leave, your intention may be to bounce and return visa exempt as well.

This person from Facebook stated definitively that he was told he would not be allowed to leave through that border, and he had to fly out.

From the sound of it, that person made it clear that the purpose of their trip was a visa run.

I don't think they would prevent people from exiting who make it clear that their next destination won't be Thailand.

Don't believe everything you read on Farcebook.

I was at the Savannahket border Thursday with a friend, crossing to apply for the Non O.
Immigration were only advising people if they departed, they would not be allowed re-entry without a visa.
