Thanksgiving Abundance in 2025

The American Farm Bureau Federation, or Farm Bureau, recently released their annual tradition for Thanksgiving: a report on the cost of a typical Thanksgiving dinner in the United States. For 2025, the Farm Bureau tells us, you can make a traditional meal of turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberries, pumpkin pie, and other sides for a group of 10 for about $55. Not only is that much lower in nominal terms than last year, looking at past Farm Bureau reports, it is actually a lower sticker price than the past four years in the United States—it had been as high as $64 in 2022.

Careful readers will note that nominal prices aren’t the best comparisons when looking at past years. Not only have prices in the economy generally increased—so it may be somewhat surprising that Thanksgiving prices have mostly fallen—but of course nominal wages have also increased a lot over the past four to five years.

Trying to show me why Cato is wrong.   Cato does a good job on facts.

But let's share the right out LIE the liar in chief of the US posted.

Fact check: Cheaper Walmart Thanksgiving meal touted by Trump has fewer items than last year’s

President Donald Trump keeps touting the fact that Walmart’s promotional Thanksgiving meal basket is cheaper this year than it was last year. But Trump hasn’t mentioned that this year’s basket is different than last year’s – in particular, that it contains significantly fewer items.

This year’s basket contains 15 products, six fewer than the 21 products in the 2024 basket. If you’re counting each individual item (like each can of green beans) separately, it’s 22 items this year compared to 29 items last year. In addition, items from Walmart’s “Great Value” store brand make up a greater percentage of this year’s basket than last year’s, which included a larger proportion of name brands.

Why you don't counter the claim CNN makes, instead of posting more nonsense as usual. Is that really all you can?

And here's one of the main reasons: retaillers liwering prices to attract customers, despite the fact that the wholesale price of fresh turkeys being up.

The centerpiece on most Thanksgiving tables – the turkey – dramatically decreased in price, which helped bring down the overall cost of dinner. The average price for a 16-pound frozen turkey is $21.50. That is $1.34 per pound, down more than 16% from last year. While the wholesale price for fresh turkey is up from 2024, grocery stores are featuring Thanksgiving deals and attempting to draw consumer demand back to turkey, leading to lower retail prices for a holiday bird.

And the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner is significant why? That's what you eat every day? Just a kind of cherry picking. Now, food price inflation, you know the inflation that affects what most folks eat every day, tells a different story.

Then tell me, why the Thanksgiving meal always has to be cheaper every year, and I don't take into account the false claims from Trump that it IS cheaper

This says Thanksgiving dinner has actually become more expensive this year:

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2025/11/19/tariffs-cause-thanksgiving-turkey-price-spike

As for the overall economy:

But the good news is, Trump and his family are doing great monetizing the presidency ($1.8 billion dollars since the inauguration):

And that is all that matters to the cult.

I'm happy for you. Hope you can afford a normal meal as well.

Do leftists hate Thanksgiving even more than Christmas and Easter?

I know they hate families (and Thanksgiving is generally a family occasion) and anything to do with Christianity, but I’m not quite sure where each individual holiday falls on the hate scale.

Halloween is ok though, right?  Who doesn’t love a costume party!

Here are some facts for your leftist cult.

Cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for your friends and family will cost less than last year, marking the third straight year of price declines. The American Farm Bureau Federation’s 40th annual Thanksgiving dinner survey provides a snapshot of the average cost of Thanksgiving staples that make up a classic holiday feast for 10, which is $55.18 or about $5.52 per person.

You should start the graph in 2017, then we can compare the inflation to your messiah’s four years in office.
