A Pakistani motorcyclist fatally struck an elderly Thai woman at a zebra crossing in Bangkok's Rat Burana district on November 26. The collision occurred on Pracha Uthit Road, near Soi Pracha Uthit 4, when the motorcyclist reportedly failed to stop. The victim, 80-year-old Amnuay, suffered severe injuries and later died at Suksawat Hospital.

The incident involved a black and red Zongshen Ryuka motorcycle, ridden by 21-year-old Vichan, a Pakistani national. Vichan claimed he could not stop in time due to several pedestrians on the road and denied speeding. However, witnesses contested his account, stating the motorcyclist was traveling at high speed and did not attempt to brake.

Witness Nopparat Duangsi, 28, reported that the impact of the collision was so severe that Amnuay's body was thrown over 20 meters. Another witness, 34-year-old Kanokphan Somjai, noted that all other vehicles had stopped for Amnuay, apart from Vichan. After the crash, Vichan allegedly acted as if he were on the phone and tried to escape, but bystanders managed to detain him.

Police have taken Vichan into custody for further questioning and are reviewing CCTV footage. Authorities plan to gather more evidence before filing formal charges against him. The outcome of this investigation could lead to serious legal consequences for Vichan, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

Guilty. I just read the title and had no idea she died.

He better be a rich Pakistani. Because the family will be demanding outrageous sums of money for compensation. He is totally at fault here and a death occured. He will not be getting asked the typical amount of 50,000 baht. More like 5 million or more.

I was in a similar accident and the person I hit had a broken leg. They demanded 2 mil from me. I ended up paying almost 400,000 baht for that. And I was not driving fast, the lady reached out to grab my bag and was pulled into the side of my bike. But I still was at fault and had to pay. The law is clear that pedestrians are never at fault for injury from a vehicle as I was told several times by the police.

The zebra walks are sacred ground for people walking. The laws state that even if a person crosses the street and there is no zebra crosswalk, the driver who hits them is responsible.

At most, the Pakistani had only the required insurance to get plaques for the bike, meaning 80k is available to the injured by this means.

The Pakistani is in deep sh-t now though due to the death. He could face many  years in prison.

These

Sad for the lady that it all ended that way.... he better lawyer up.

3 months for killing someone is way too low.

Let the family have some time with this animal.

Make sure he needs sticks to walk for the rest of his sad life

He rode like other Thais. Not defending Pakistan’s motorcycle accident records (don’t know it) but I bet it’s not worse than Thailand.

The punishment will take place for 3 months while in the prison.

21 years' old - and ruthlessly left an old Thai woman to die?

The other prisoners will love that..... Sore burnt plums I expect?
