7 day extension for 5th stamp possible?

Featured Replies

Hello! I'm on my 5th border stamp. They don't give 30 day extension, but is a 7 day extension (1900THB) for 5th stamp possible? Thought always that this 7d extension was always the last backup for all kind of visas?

And has such a 7day extension some consequences for future entries?

How many extensions did you have this year already?

No it will not.

Why would you even ask about 7 day extension.

Just leave Thailand prior to current expiry

Yeah, after 11 years here, need a bit more time.. even ready to pay this crazy 1900 for 7 days..

So, 7 days is possible right?

I was always led to believe the “7 day extension” was basically a rejection of your extension request (you cannot apply for a 7 day extension) which gave you 7 days to get your stuff together & leave.

Shouldn’t be any consequences for future entries/immigration business but why waste the money & passport space, if you don’t believe you’re eligible for an extension just leave at the end of your current permission to stay.

Yes. Folk apply for an extension knowing full well it will be rejected and are given 7 days to exit..

"But more time " After 11 years = poor planning.

Subtly different now in that previously you were stamped with extension not approved, must leave by xx (7 days).  You now don't get this non-approval stamp but an actual extension stamp, albeit only for 7 days.  One is pictured here.

If your current entry is from an overland border run, then as per the new rules, you don't qualify for any extension. It cannot hurt to ask your immigration office though.

There's no such thing as a 7 day extension. You can only apply for 30 day extensions.

You've been gaming the system for 11 years on visa-exempt entries, been here for 11 years and don't know there's no such thing as applying for 7 day visa extensions?

Correct, the 7 days is a rejection stamp with 7 days to leave the country. There's no such thing as applying for a 7 day extension which the OP asked about.

Seems not to be the case.....

I guess the things have changed in the past week as to how immigration stamps passports. Or possibly, it could be using up the 30 day and 7 day extensions all in one go, which they introduced 2 weeks ago for visa-exempt folks. Wonder if you could go and try a 3rd time and get a 7 days "not approved, must leave within 7 days" stamp on top just as a sweetener, therefore getting a 30 day extension + 7 day extension + 7 days to leave lol. The OP may want to roll the dice on that one and see if that's possible 😁

You can apply for 30 days, but they (immigration) then have FOUR options, depending on the specifics of your situation and possibly their local reading of the rules:

- Grant a 30-day extension

- Grant a 7-day extension

- Reject your application and formally order you to leave within 7 days

- Decline to accept your application "informally", leaving you with 0 extra days

Not the same?

No.  One is a regular extension, added onto the end of your existing stay, and could allow you to do things like converting to a non-O visa, non-B visa, or non-ED visa.

The other is a denied extension, starting from the day you apply, and will not allow you to do anything except leave Thailand.

Got it, thanks!

How much did you pay for the elite visa?

Totally NOT the same..

The 7 day extension they're handing out now if you've already gotten a 30 day extension is a real extension stamp, (same stamps as the 30 days extension) just that it's issued for 7 days only

Whereas the 7 day GTF outta dodge stamp is an "application for extension not approved" stamp that gives you a week to leave.

Two completely different stamps

AND

The application denied stamp can't be converted to anything, you gotta leave no ifs ands or buts about it

BUT

the 7 day extension of stay stamp can indeed be used if you're converting to in country non imm visa and didn't have enough time left on your initial 60 days to get thru the review period for the non imm visa.

Just had a student at a language school who burned their stamp down too close (didn't have the required 15 days left on their visa exempt stamp) they got the 7 day extension and were able to apply for the Non-ED visa in country.

So they are indeed two completely different stamps.. Here's an "application for extension NOT approved stamp" from Phuket and a 7 day extension of stay stamp from Laksi

They are also two different time frames, looking at the stamps. Left one with the "not approved" is 9 days and the right one is 7 days.
