Foreign Woman Sought After Snus Theft in Krabi

A foreign woman remains wanted, after allegedly stealing two pots of snus from a shop at Holiday Beach Walk in Ao Nang, Krabi, on November 29. The incident prompted the shop owner to file a police report and publicly request help identifying the suspect. The case has drawn significant local attention as CCTV images circulated online.

The theft occurred inside Term, a snus and kratom shop owned by Chutchalit Wongwatjanakul, who posted about the incident in the Krabi Marketplace Facebook group on December 1. He shared CCTV stills showing the woman picking up the snus pots directly beneath a sign that read “Do Not Steal,” while her companion waited at the entrance. Chutchalit asked anyone who sees the woman at a hotel or elsewhere to contact him immediately.

The CCTV footage shows the woman wearing a striped halter top and entering the premises with a friend, though it remains unclear whether the companion was involved in the incident. Chutchalit did not disclose the value of the stolen items. His post quickly gained traction as residents discussed the incident and attempted to identify the suspect.

Some online users criticised Chutchalit for blurring the suspect’s eyes in the published images, arguing it hindered identification efforts by locals. They urged him to release the unedited photos so the public could assist more effectively. The debate highlighted differing views on balancing public safety with privacy obligations.

Responding to the criticism, Chutchalit explained that police had instructed him not to reveal the suspect’s full face due to Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). He said that anyone wishing to see clearer images should contact him privately via Messenger. This guidance from authorities underscored the legal constraints affecting how businesses and individuals share sensitive information online.

The Thaiger reported that police are continuing to review evidence provided by the shop and members of the public. The next steps will depend on further leads and whether the suspect can be located in the Ao Nang area or nearby accommodations. The case remains open as officers work with the shop owner to track down the woman.

If this was a Thai person. The netizens would be arguing they showed too much and should blur out the whole face.

I do hope they catch these women. The one in striped shirt is attractive and will please many Thai cops once in custody. Haha

Both would be quite recognisable in the area, especially if they're dumb enough to hang -out together

I presume that is cannabis, going by the photo ??? otherwise I don't have a Clue what snus is...but google shows this, and you must have a license in Thailand to sell it.

The quote, "Just a pinch between your cheek and gum" was from an ad for Skoal in the US back in the 70s and 80s. Walt Garrison was one of the main athletes featured in the ads.

No it isn't. It is completely tobacco free.

VELO nicotine pouches are completely tobacco-free. They deliver nicotine using plant-based materials, water, flavorings, and sweeteners, offering a smokeless and spit-free alternative to traditional tobacco products
