A pm2.5 wall ? Mexico can pay for it !

  • the first step to reducing pm 2.5 would be to stop all kinds of burning, vehicle pollution, factory pollution, etc., and most importantly, to enforce all these measures with strict penalties. this is

I don't want to worry anyone, but pretty large areas are still under water from flooding.

Despite the PM2.5 situation we really don't need any more rain!!

And most sugar cane factories have yet to open, in my area Lopburi, cane burning is banned, it came in last year and it worked.

I could never work out why my swimming pool always went cloudy in December if it rained. Then I finally realized that it was all the Cr@p in the air dropping on my veranda, then washing into the pool when it rains. Even now I cannot walk outside to the garage without getting black feet.

Yes, acid rain (caused by chemical reactions between water vapor and certain polluting gases such as sulphur dioxide), falls into your swimming pool, making the water slightly acidic which green algae love!  Acid rain can rapidly turn a swimming pool bright green, but it takes much longer to kill the algae with alkaline chemicals.  (I know, having run small hotels with pools that have turned green overnight!!!)

The question is whether we die from air pollution or global warming, which has not yet been scientifically confirmed but is based on a minimal fluctuation of a few percentage points due to human activity. It is clear that the first solution is the most urgent.

Not relevant. CO2  has not been proven effective as a pollution counter measure to industrial and vehicle pollution. Exhaust filters, use of cleaner fuels, proper efficient combustion, and reduced use are all more effective.

I think you should read dry-ice

CO2 is great.

Makes plants grow.

It is always sadly fascinating to witness the almost hysterical revolving door denegrating opinion of Thai Government and/or even the local populace of their general response to various issues that annually arise as a relatively "normal" outcome of culturally mundane activities.

And this is by a minor percentage of less than 1 % of the overall percentage of Western full time people living in Thailand here on AN.

"The Government should do A,B,C,D ! "

Thai Govt.  Tries  A . No no that's stupid. They should do X !

What is X ? Call in Westrn experts who know as much as Jak Shat specifically about S E A  cultural practice?

Ok. So how should the  people who eke a subsistence from the agricultural methodology adopted over centuries accommodate expectations of the new age ponce's who from environments far removed from any possibility of getting ( bar a traumatic event where  a grain of potting mix from the GMO dwarf palm on the 23rdish floor condo patio ) under a fingernail giving cause to book an appointment at some clinic for urgent decontamination ?

Or are these ambiguous people who lambaste everything and anything that fails to satisfy expectations but naturally object to commit to monetary support to actually achieve said expectations in possession of actual claim to moral or ethical validity ?

Perhaps momentarily until the next time they complain that the price of staple goods such as grains massively increases as a result of poor crop yields , natural disaster, or in the event of enforced costs to eliminate a millennium of traditional practice

Want cheap cake and eat too ?  Or anti up?

I was thinking about cane burning. It's done for a different reason in that the crop is burnt while growing to encourage cane growth and remove competing weeds. In Australia it was stopped over thirty years ago.

Can you plough rice stubble into the ground like they do wheat. What are the realistic alternatives I wonder.

Cities in India are becoming unlivable in some months due to heavy air pollution to which rural burning is a big contributor.

Start with vehicle emissions like most countries

we just need more of these clean air machines, heralded as the solution to bangkok's pollution only a few years ago
