Have terrible back problems hence my "French feelings"

Don't know if it's comfy enough compared to the French cars. Have terrible back problems hence my "French feelings" We have the 2022 MG ZS EV, discontinued, and the S5 is it's replacement basically. Almost the exact same specs & dimensions (D model), except the lifetime warranty. Highly recommend you take a peek and a test drive, before buying anything else. When on MG Thailand site, click promotions for the lower priced promotions than what shows on the car info page. Terrible layout of the site in that aspect, not showing best price, and have to look for it. We love the ZS, and have considered the S5, just for the warranty, but resale of ZS is pretty poor since the price war, and would cost almost 300k to swap up to the S5. Pretty silly for lateral move, just for the warranty, and I really like the uniqueness of our front grill 🙄 We only have 54k kms on it, and unless a rare oops, the battery will outlast myself for sure, and probably the wife.

Mine would be Isuzu/Toyota brands/and maybe Mitsubishi. Nothing bought pre 2023 is holding much value since price war hit. We got a decent price for our 2020 MG ZS (ICE) in 2022 considering a buyer's market, during covid, and living in smalls-ville (<26k population), and being an impatient seller, not really needing money. Knowing selling after only 2 yrs owning isn't be best financial decision. Price war devalued our 2022 MG ZS EV, not that it matters, as we'll keep it till it dies, more like, we die first. Bit of a wash, as if keeping the ICE version, would have loss about 200k on resale, along with paying 150k for petrol to operate it. So almost a break even, if adding depreciation for 3 yrs owning now. Can't see it's replacement, MG S5 (ZS EV discontinued), having the same depreciation, as already silly low priced @ 620k at times. Agree MG3 was crap, and reincarnated as HEV, so should do well, for those wanting inexpensive transport. MG5, equal to entry level JP badged crap. Rest of MG line up at good price point, and very competitive, and should do well onward, as price war is winding down IMHO Maybe a pick up truck price war, as the EV versions start getting launched. Right now just the RD6 is only real value on the market, and may dominate for a while. Just like the MG ZS & EP did, till BYD showed up. Competition is a beautiful thing I understand the 'opinions' of the non BEV owners, as the ignorance & brainwashing from fossil fuel has blinded them from even peeking at or test driving. Until they do, they really shouldn't comment of BEV, as simply showing that ignorance. Even more so when commenting on 'my choices' as the companies offer more than just BEV, as I stated earlier. If not looking for a truck, then suggest anyone to go peek at & test drive the MG S5 for instance, or any BYD or other that I suggested, then go test drive one of those Isuzu/Toyota brands/and maybe Mitsubishi at the same price point .... then get back to us. Then your opinion may hold some weight ... until the ...

December 9, 2025Dec 9 I would check the Chinese offerings. Lots to choose from these days, at terrific prices. Spouse and I have a BYD Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid and we like it a lot. Saving a ton on what we were spending on gas--we only use a little gas when we go to Bangkok. Now that our Bangkok condo has electric chargers, our next car will likely be all-electric, and also likely to be another Chinese model. We are spoiled by all the features--like air-conditioned seats and cameras galore, plus the great pricing. Our Sealion was about 700,000 baht cheaper than a CR-V and has more features, with much fresher styling. Compared to a few years ago, the model selection these days is quite large.

The car that interests me is the Toyota GR GT. This is a quarter of a million dollar car, you won't a new one in Thailand for, I reckon under 20 or 25 million baht.

Because it's once again, a silly priced, under performing (sub 4 🙄) car from Toyota, that may be available sometime in the future. What they do, to keep future customers from buying now, what China offers, for less, and performs better .... now. Thought that was pretty obvious. CN now making high performance cars Toyota can't complete with. Always around the corner with Toyota ... ... solid state battery ... hydrogen cars ... ICE performance car now Still waiting, and what's available now, overpriced under performers. Before anyone goes to the dealer, peek at the specs; dimensions, hp, torque, 0-100 kph (if wanting fast), warranties. Price for value before wasting your time at dealers. $250k ... seriously, does that interest you

Might want to wait for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra to be available where you are. Sub 2 seconds to 100 kph, (not a possible sub 4 sec) and Xiaomi about the same dimensions of the GR GT, probably half the price though, if Toyota even brings it to market. And Xiaomi SU7 cost way less to operate & maintain.
