First extension coming up in Khon Kaen

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I arrived here on November 7th on a Non-O retirement, went to Immigration in KK on the 10th for a COR for banking and DL. Was able to get an account the same day at at K-bank in Central mall (Plaza?) Got the money in by wire transfer within 3 days (14th)

I'm currently awaiting the bank money seasoning to be up on January 14th. My initial 90 days is up on Feb 4th for whatever reason (The IO at BKK marked it for the 4th instead of the 7th, I didn't want to press the matter for 3 days, not a big deal in the long run.)

Does anyone have experience in KK for the first extension? I know some offices are slightly different, I live an hour and half away so I don't want to go back if not needed.

It should be ok after the 14th of January as it will be under 30 days to apply for extension.

I will bring bankbook and letter from K-bank for that day, TM-30 signed by homeowner, signed copy of owners ID. Anything else I need to do before going? Or are the forms I need to fill out already there?

The experience I had with KK Immigration was documented in an earlier post, basically they were extremely helpful, not like the problems I hear about in other provinces.

Thanks for your help.

The IO got it right.

Plenty of time so don’t worry.

The non-O visa gives a 90-day entry stamp, NOT a 3 month entry stamp.

The day you enter is counted as day 1.  So the date you received is correct.

I had downloaded forms filled on the PC and they were accepted.

(filled date handwritten)

TM7, STM2, STM9 (hope I got it right, not at the desktop now).

Copy of passport main page and all stamped pages can also be prepared beforehand.

Bank book updated same day.

So easiest to copy on site.

Edit: tm numbers

Thanks for your help.

If you have a lease on the place you are staying you should take a copy of it.

You should also have copies of a number of your passport pages include the main page, your entry stamp and original visa. A copy of the bankbook is usually also require after you have updated it on the day of going to immigration.

You may want to make sure the fund transfer is marked as a foreign transfer in the bank book. Mine show up as FTT but I have Bangkok bank.

Good luck but I am sure it will all go well.

For extension using money in bank method, funds do not  need to be shown as from abroad.

Have you skipped the fact this is his first extension and entered on a NON-O?

My understanding was that the first extension must show funds originating
abroad?  Have I got that wrong?

You've got that wrong. If you apply for the Non-O visa at an immigration office within Thailand, you need to show that the money came from abroad, unless it's been in your account for a long time. No such rule exists when applying for an extension.

Caldera answer ^ is good summary.

I was conflating obtaining a NON-O here with arriving on one.
thanks guys
