Solid life in Canada

Featured Replies

I'm doing my best not to mention how my amazing Chinese wife found a job just two months after arriving. And you definitely won't hear me talk about how Canadian healthcare is actually fantastic, despite what the online trolls claim. Finally, I'm certainly not going to rub it in that a bank handed my wife a premium, unsecured credit card the moment she opened her account, while pensioners in Thailand are calling their agent about a missed balance. Nope. Not saying a word about that. Finally, I can stop rubbing it in that globally responsible Canadian Boomers are essentially running an international charity by moving abroad, reducing resource strain, while still paying Canadian taxes all so a Serbian refugee and his bride can afford to live in a first world country. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Now to topic. While I was basking in the sun in Thailand, my digestive system was apparently on extended leave. I'm talking a solid A+ experience once or maybe twice a month if the stars aligned perfectly. I lived a life of constant disappointment. But now? Now I'm back in Canada, and I'm here to tell you.... my stools are wonderful. A solid, high quality dump every single day. I don't know what kind of poison they put in food over there, but being back feels fantastic.

Crappy story   😂 It could be the colder weather, it shrivels up the scrotum, maybe it's doing the same to your rectum

Well good for you.  I've always found work when wanting, banks always gave me CC, if wanting, and healthcare excellent everywhere I lived.   Never used or needed an agent for anything.  Just have to plan your life & choose wisely, as with all things.

With that, choosing wisely, it's not what they put in the food in Thailand, it's the Thai food you chose to put in yourself.   I have none of the digestive issues you experienced.

Live with your choices.

Yeh well fill your boots! The healthcare is fabulous isn't it? Until "you" need it of course. Here's an example:

Oh, need a specialist. Good luck with that. Yeh, fill your boot!

I am literally going full on georgegeorgia with paranoia. Already billed the government thousands of dollars for all kinds of exams.

I took a video of it and will post it instead of my turd

That's why you vote for him. Let other people who work, pay for your problems. Gets down to you eventually.

Well, why bother posting on a Thai forum.  Find a nice Canuck forum to inhabit.  I left that life 19 years ago and honestly, I couldn't care less about the frozen white north.

I recently had a hip replaced at Stanford. Two weeks between first meeting with a top rated surgeon(my choice) and having the surgery. It took a week to get the first appointment. In Canada it takes months to get the first appointment with a surgeon (their choice) then years after that to get the operation. Canada health care sucks.

Maybe British Columbia nicer than Toronto.

Toronto is an expensive concrete jungle.

But many cheap flights out of there. Good airport.

Some things in the West are better than Thailand.

You do have professional sports. But getting expensive?

Are there street gangs in Toronto? Thailand is safer, right?

Yes, and we found winter jackets here for 0$ because there is no winter.

I live downtown. No gangs but some fentanyl crazies. Thailand seems safer, yes, but that being said the burbs that people paid a small fortune to live before the housing crash are the worst. Like Brampton, Vaughn, scarberia etc
