Where is the outrage that a pasty white woman has displaced 30 years of Cuban Miami mayors?  Cheering for that seems rather racist to me...

She seems to be a reasonable, center-left candidate. The previous mayor was not running for re-election, so it was a wide open race. This may signal to Democrats nationally that a strategy of sane candidates might be effective.

You haven’t been paying attention most of the democrats are center and a bit right…anyway this result is in Donald’s and Ronnie’s home turf in my view it bodes ill for magga and good for America and democracy.

Perhaps so, but the ones getting the attention are the Mamdami and Crockett and Omar types.  Considering the city of Miami votes Democrat in presidential and gubernatorial elections, not a big surprise as a result.

Any election that is carried out fairly is good for democracy, regardless of result. So in that sense I agree with you.

The die-hard MAGA Trump supporters don't want to face the reality that there is going to be a massive backlash in the US Mid-terms in Nov 2026.  The recent elections across the US and now in a Republican stronghold that flipped to Democrat are harbingers of what is to come.  Trump and his cabinet are so full of bravado and hubris that they are failing to see that the hammer of a p***ed off American electorate is about to fall.  Trump has lost a significant portion of his base because he ramped up the US military budget which will be in the Trillion range and failed to delivery on the economy.  Yes - the economy is great for Donald J Trump, his family, and his friends.  The rest of us barely can make ends meet as we are told that Trump as "Made America Great Again."  Only for the wealthy. James Carvell's statement still holds water in this day and age, "It's the economy, stupid!"

I hope so.  But don't jinx it.

You are right that the economy will be the focus next year. Trump has been busy with international affairs, which might be good for the world but meaningless to most Americans.

He has 11 months to start focusing on economic things. Inflation is down, gas prices down, but that isn't enough. He carried through on his promise to curb illegal immigration, and this may provide relief for housing prices and unemployment. But it takes time.

BTW, I wouldn't call the city of Miami "a Republican stronghold", but that's just me.

Also of course many Cuban people are mighty white.

Dear Conda, I gave You a "like" for your comment.

But what I will never understand, why it took such a long time for so many US voters  to recognize the quality of such an egoistic moron and deadbeat on the top of the REPs and the USA. On the top of all, they elected him for a 2-nd period.

When I had read about the giant amounts of donated money for the candidates in the US election, I realised, this money for advertising had a bigger influence on the result than the quality of the candidates. It changed my good an respectfull thinking of  the US people.

Not sure about that. In 2024, the Democrats outspent the Republicans by a large margin, and lost at every level- popular vote, both houses of Congress, Presidency.  Seems that the candidates had at least a little influence on the results.

Reading maga style propaganda is very amusing.

Cuban white and merican white

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Cuban white people are generally of Spanish origin.

They make up 64 percent of Cuba's population.

Many maga types and/or ignorant racists know nothing about the racial diversity in Latin America.

Argentina is an especially interesting example.

Bolivia at the other extreme.

How much is inflation down, compared to 2024? 🤣

This election wasn't about candidate race.

It was about rejection of Trumpism.

Nope not a whine at all. Perhaps you should review the definition

Trump's endorsement is a kiss of death!

Democratically elected white woman.

Maybe all those ‘Latinos for Trump’ have buyers remorse.

If you notice, not a single poster has said a bad thing about the newly elected major and yet the race baiting keeps spewing out of the liberals. That is very telling.
