The Miss Universe contestant from Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, is in a critical state after a fall during the pageant's final round in Bangkok last month. Henry, an ophthalmologist, experienced the accident while showcasing her evening gown at the Impact Challenger Hall in Nonthaburi in November. This incident has raised concerns about her condition and the safety measures in place at such high-profile events.

A viral video captured Henry's unfortunate mishap, showing her tripping on her orange gown and falling through an open section of the stage. The pageant's Thai director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, along with his team, quickly responded to assist her. Initially, Nawat informed the media that Henry had only mild injuries and was stable, but recent updates paint a more serious picture.

Following her transfer to Paolo Hospital, the Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) issued a statement on December 8, outlining the severity of Henry's injuries. She suffered an intracranial haemorrhage, a fracture, facial lacerations, and other injuries after her fall on November 19. The MUO is ensuring Henry returns to Jamaica soon with a full medical escort for continued treatment and recovery.

The MUO has been closely monitoring the situation and supporting Henry and her family throughout this challenging time. They have pledged to cover all medical costs and related expenses during their stay in Thailand. The organisation also clarified that the incident was not Henry's fault and refuted rumours blaming her for the accident.

Looking ahead, Henry’s return to Jamaica will be pivotal for her ongoing treatment and recovery. The incident highlights the importance of safety measures in international pageants and the need for immediate and appropriate responses to accidents, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways:

  • Miss Universe Jamaica Gabrielle Henry is critically injured after a stage fall.
  • The MUO confirms she suffered serious injuries and plans to cover all costs.
  • Henry will return to Jamaica for further medical treatment.

Safety and Thailand are a contradiction in terms?

Absolutely, had this happened in the USA, she would be awarded tens of millions, in Thailand she will be lucky to get a 'basket'

Was she in high heels and fell on the stage probadly. If the stage was faulty then she has a claim.Good luck in the claim and hope the hospital bill is covered before you leave

Where was the "Safety First" sign?!

It would have been very easy to have some flower boxes lining the sides of the stage to prevent someone accidently walking off the edge and getting seriously injured.  I watched the video and if I remember the audience area was dark, as was the stage floor and it seemed difficult to distinguish where the edge of the stage was.

She didn't accidentally walk off the stage, she tripped on her own gown, and flower boxes would not have prevented what happened because of that.

Actually, she did not trip on her gown.  If you watch the video, she clearly walks off the stage, not seeing the edge.  Flower boxes or other decorative barriers would have helped delineate where the edge of the stage was.  Per Google:

Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, fell through an opening in the stage during the preliminary evening gown competition in Thailand in November 2025; it looked like she misjudged the edge, stepping into a gap, rather than tripping on her gown, though her gown was part of the overall moment before the fall, with her falling into an uncovered area of the stage. She was quickly helped by audience members and taken to the hospital but thankfully did not suffer life-threatening injuries, though she remained in intensive care for observation.
