If they were pets, why were they left in the street? Why were they not in the owner's home?

Are there any other cultures worldwide stupid enough to let dogs - stray or otherwise - bark all night?

Yes, many…get out a bit more.

It can be frustrating. I was woken at 4am and 5am by my neighbours dogs, and now at about 6am they are still at it.

I was almost in despair, but there are still reasonable people in this world.

A couple of weeks ago, near Rayong, a pack of stray dogs mauled a 2.8-year-old child. The body was found without ears. The cause of death was blood loss; the dog had severed an artery in his leg. Of course, the 21-year-old father was also to blame for leaving the child home alone. But if not for "the alcoholic Thai ex-relatives", things might not have ended so tragically.

The YouTube video about this incident has many Thai comments. They mostly say the father is suspicious. I think the young, lazy father just got away with it. For some reason, this never occurs to Thais. Sorry for the off-topic.

But it's useless to argue with dog advocates. Having fed them even once, they're firmly convinced of the dogs' loyalty. Plus, these cowards now have a protector animal. Which, of course, is "kind and doesn't bite people."

Thank  God left behind drugs that only kill dogs.
I think the guy in the news used something harsh – rat poison, which is why the innocent birds died.

Horrendous. When Thailand finally grows up and gets the dogs, and monkeys, off the streets, they ought to heavily penalise numpty owners that let their fogs roam freely. If you have a dog, keep it on your fkn property (NOT IN A CAGE), feed it and take the poor thing for a walk occasionally!

It maybe your location.

I've been living here for 25 years, I never hear dogs barking all night.

In my area, dog poisonings are common. Most of the people here have outside kitchens. If a dog starts raiding the kitchens at night, they won't last long. A few years ago, an expat moved in, and I noticed his beautiful purebred running around late in the evening, and I warned him about the poisonings. He ignored the warning, and his dog was dead in a week. Now, he has new dogs, and he has completely fenced his property .

I dislike dogs intently after one disfigured my young brother 76 years ago when UK was where Thailand is now on dog control.  I condone killing them humanely by authorities. It baffles me that Thais wander the world wearing masks in the name of hygiene whilst allowing dogs to defecate/urinate anywhere.  Add in noise pollution, rabies, attacks on children/passers-by and road accidents and it's clear the law should be upheld.  Like the law on helmet wearing it is rarely enforced, resulting in daily deaths.  Thailand will continue to be regarded as a 3rd World country till it gets a police force.

If true, drive the message home and throw the non-Thai culprit out for life while reprimanding this Thai spouse - as said - provided it is true.

Could also be a private rant of Ratsiri Kolb - just saying - might be worthwhile to have a look as well 😉

I was working in Egypt and struggled to sleep due to howling cats all night.

There are dogs in the house just across from me that bark very loudly day and night. If the guy in the post suffers like me then I sympathise with him. Although I'm not a "doggy" person, I quite like friendly well-behaved animals so I could never go as far as poisoning them, but laying awake in the middle of the night, I must admit that the thought sometimes crosses my mind. Does anyone else wonder why nature gave "Man's best friend" such a loud and obnoxious voice?

You mean your dogs were wandering everywhere in the village barking fighting.

And keeping residents awake at night.

You talk rubbish.

Good questions but not justification for the death penalty for the dog and innocence birds.

Easy decision.. throw him out of Thailand. He is obviously a real moron!

I can't understand expats behaving badly in the community, it's as if after living here for sometime they think they have a right to be here, it never occurs to them that they could be deported. Simply being nice and polite pays dividends as I have found to my advantage.

Maybe if the dog was controlled  and not left to roam  the streets this would have never happened

any grievances should have been addressed through dialogue rather than harmful actions

Was bitten by a dog in a pack of 6. When wife tried to talk to the woman, she said she needed 6 dogs to keep her safe. When asked for the money to pay for rabbie's shots and travel to the hospital, this was an issue for her.

She now doesn't acknowledge me or the wife anymore & clearly feels that we did something wrong. Probably me, walking on the roads instead of driving everywhere!

They don't respond to reasonable dialogue.

Maybe the elderly and children dont pee, crap, and make noise in early hours of the morning

False, Read the Self Defense Exemption in CRUELTY PREVENTION AND WELFARE OF ANIMAL ACT,

B.E. 2557 (2014)

CHAPTER V

Section 20 No person shall perform any act which is deemed an act of cruelty to animal without justification.

Section 21 The following shall not be deemed cruelty to animal under Section 20

(6) killing animal in the case where there is a necessity to prevent danger to life or body of a human or other animal, or to

prevent damage to property

I understand there are nuisance dogs, that long tailed bird the squawks all night.  Hopefully most of us will try to solve the problem without harm.  It does seem like a lack of local government controlling the problem, possibly birth control in some areas.

Stay in Bangkok and there are many areas without a street dog so it can be managed over time.

Maybe stop bagging falangs at every opportunity.

Like you did on this thread. and many other threads

Maybe you should try doing what I do, just keep scrolling.

I regularly reply to the article or OP, I rarely interact with other members, usually only if I'm attacked, if I receive a hostile comment.

You must understand everyone is different, we don't always see eye to eye, accept this and move on.

If I see a stupid comment or a comment I disagree with, I have a laugh and keep scrolling. I don't attack another person for having a different view.

Sometimes I wonder if it's a way to keep citizens locked in their homes. We have a pack of five soi dogs on our deadend street in Bangkok and it definitely restricts neighborly communication. People sometimes trying walking for exercise while carrying a stick for protection, but eventually give up.
