December 22, 2025Dec 22 ALERT…. Watch out for thumb drives and sad drives being offered in large memory sizes at very low prices. I knew it was a fake, but I wanted to know ‘how,’ so I bought a 4T SSD drive for about 300 baht. When I plugged it in, it showed up as a 4T external drive. I formatted it. Twice, just to make sure. It still showed up as a 4T SSD drive. I began writing to it. Copied over 5-6 large folders. The File Manager showed them in the right place. Showed the correct numbers, too. I then shut down the computer. Re-started but… … the computer would no longer even recognize the drive. Nothing we could do would correct the problem.
December 22, 2025Dec 22 How to complain on Shopee other than with the seller in order to let others know it is junk?

It is absolute Chinese junk and even though I paid 500 baht for it is probably worth about 30 baht. It might be able to suck up and ant but anything heavier than that, it's completely hopeless. Having said that I'm getting typically good service from Lazada, they are allowing me to return it for a refund and I buy a lot of stuff on Lazada, most of it is acceptable quality, and some of it is excellent. i have a similar one from Lazada around the same price and is very good, way better than the price, if the reviews for your vacuum were good then you were unlucky
December 22, 2025Dec 22 Been ordering all manner of stuff COD from Lazada for many years. Never once had a problem.

I wonder how much spyware the thumb drive auto downloaded onto your computer before self destructing its own file system.

After 10 months, cracks appeared on the lid, and following emails to Shopee, Hafele in Bangkok, Germany and Turkey, I got it replaced. It does have a yoghurt setting on it, but I did not try it yet as you need raw milk for a successful outcome. Works perfectly with full fat milk. Just add some shop bought yogurt.

It's always a possibility. I spend a lot of money on computer defenses: anti-virus, anti-malware, etc., etc. In theory, nothing executable gets in unless I authorize it. In theory... I use paid services as I found the free ones had too many holes, but I still keep my fingers crossed.

Only worked for about 5 minutes before the battery ran out and it hardly picked up anything from the floor, not even worth recharging. It is faster, easier and cheaper to just use a broom every morning. The robot ended up in the recycle for someone else to have a go struggling with.

Easier to get the wife to do it, but the xiaomi is very good, afterwards it heads home to recharge

December 23, 2025Dec 23 I just bought a 500b air quality monitor on there that was shipped from China. Should have known better for that price. A lot of the readings were faked as far as I can tell. Watched some youtube videos about it and that was basically their conclusion as well. Ended up sending it back. Will see if I get a refund or if they claim there is nothing wrong with it. For anyone else out there looking to get an air quality monitor, if it's less than around 3000b it's probably garbage. Using proper sensors costs money.

Because iRobot has filed for bankruptcy so beware if the Roomba's suddenly start to get sold at crashed prices.

And you think that the Roomba was Made in Seattle or Made in London ? 🤣

But you do need a tablespoon of starter stirred in. Any active yoghurt will do as starter, then just use the last spoon of yoghurt for the next starter. (Yolida or Bulgaria)
January 9Jan 9 After ordering a supposed "Makita" grass strimmer from Lazada, the 3/4 scale flimsy toy that arrived put me off from ordering anything else from online bulk shopping sites, tbh. 😜Anything electrical, mechanical, clothing, shoes, etc., I'd rather go to an actual shop and see / try before I buy.
