The quality Brit tourists have moved on from Spain to sample  the delights of Thailand

Temples beaches and good entertainment plus good English pub food in Pattaya and Phuket 😋

Plus it's a lot better than being in the UK at the moment weather wise

Yep, spend thousands to fly for over 12 hours, to go to an English pub.

And there is much more to Thailand than Pattaya & Phuket, unless you are here for the obvious.

UK EU Country sent 1m Tourists to Thailand, did they not have a choice .....:coffee1:

What was their crime to deserve that ?

Sounds like the UK have done it again but this time they have sent their bad criminals  to Thailand  like they did to Australia in the 1800s.

It's called hair. Cast your mind back a few decades and you may remember having some.

Wow, you are right that is hair.

I really thought it was a coon skin cap or something like that.

He needs to go to a landscaper and get that trimmed, maybe could be shaped like an elephant in honor of Thailand.

Why is it now mandatory to compose an imprecise, click-bait style headline for articles?

The UK didn't "send" these tourists, they decided under their own volition - and, the UK officially left the EU years ago - for those using EU instead of european....

It stands to reason that when the bottom falls out the previously dominant Chinese market to such then the number of long haul tourists as a % of total tourist numbers is bound to rise. I don't think it's evidence of attracting high quality tourists, quite the reverse if you look at the change in the demographic of Brits I witnessed in Pattaya in the last year. Marijuana seems more of an attraction that upmarket spas, high end dining or shopping.

In fairness at least it proves that the often spouted nonsense on here that Western tourist numbers from the likes of the UK are declining is absolute garbage.

That is because Pattaya is there to act as a sort of fly trap to extract all of the chav tourists from the other better off tourists who go to more expensive and up market places like Phuket.

Phuket is reassuringly expensive as the beer advert stated on UK tv a few decades ago.

I see most tourists in Phuket are couples or families enjoying the high end shopping areas, numerous restaurants, top end hotels, the girly bars etc have more or less gone except of course for the few remaining in Patong, which only makes up a small fraction of the whole island.

But I expect a number of people will tell me how wrong I am, but that is a reflection of them as it means they only spent time in the small girly bar area and did not bother with what the rest of the island has to offer.

No wonder they are always in the news......😄

This is the common refrain of losers who have ended up in Thailand attracted by cheap booze and sex, but have burnt their boats in the UK.The UK obviously has its problems but the hardworking and well educated do very well, and have an excellent life. That's why incidentally cultured and well off Thais send their children to English public schools.

If you read on this forum of some description of the UK as a hell hole or similar, it variably says more about the poster than it does about the UK.Even those Brits who have been settled here for decades and have no reason to be attached to it, hold the country in affectionate if sometimes disappointed regard. It's only the uneducated trash that hate it.

True.

I have met quite a few Brits over the years in Thailand who seem to hate the country.

They are usually the uneducated ones who as you said burnt their bridges, property prices when they left would have been very low compared to today and so if they did need to go back to the UK for health reasons etc in order to use the NHS they would not be able to afford to buy or rent a house.

The sensible ones living here would have one or two properties back in the UK earning rent so they could move back into one if needed or have a good pension set up.

I laugh to myself when they proudly state they have not been back to the UK for decades, they can't afford to is the real reason.

And yes the wealthy Thais do sent their kids to school or later on to university in England usually, I know a few who have done that.

I was in the business lounge at Bangkok airport (BKK) on one occasion flying back to London, the lounge was full of teenage students all flying back to school after the Christmas holidays.

My two sons were born and educated in England all the way to university have good jobs and love their life in the UK.

I was back in the UK this summer for five months buying a property, it was great to be back after three years.

Both Thailand and England are great, I like living in both countries.

But for some reason on this blog the Brits get garbaged, I just laugh as those losers are so funny. 🤣

Maybe you should read what I said again, maybe slowly this time.

I did not knock the UK down or its people, I knocked the negative few who are the ones who hate the UK.

In fact I praised the country.

And no they do not have to own two properties, I said they can also make sure the have a good pension set up, otherwise how could they return and live in the UK if they can not afford to live there in their old age?:coffee1:

So the UK economy must be doing OK. Also Brits get about 28 days (5 weeks)  paid leave vs. USA 10 (two weeks+)  So it makes sense many of them venture further afield for vacation/holiday.

They are indeed, people like the couple who helped set up Soi Dog charity decades ago are always in the news, a nice Brit couple.

"British couple John and Gill Dalley, along with Dutch expat Margot Homburg Park, in Phuket in 2003."

Seeing as we ruled most of the world for 400 years and are still the 5th largest economy in the world we expect to see resentment from the old colonial countries, like Auzzie Land and the USA, we just laugh at the silly comments.

We have three or four of the top ten universities in the world in England, not bad for such a small country, top scientists, the list goes on, oh by the way I went to one of them.

Of course like all other countries there are chavs in the UK, I think most of them have emigrated to Pattaya, Isaan, Australia etc or will do so in the future.

I think most of the tattoo shops have closed down in the UK and moved to Pattaya where they are most needed.

And of course it does also depend on the circle of people one mixes with in order to get an opinion of a person.

I stay away from the chavs of any nationality.

I worked in the USA twice, once in Texas and once in New Jersey.

It was back in the mid 1990's but the things they asked me made me laugh.

It was thanksgiving and I was asked if we have Turkeys back in the UK, do we also have credit cards etc.

At the time most of the people I met had never been out of their own continent of North America.

The top tier are educated and successful but there was a huge amount of ignorance amongst the rest of the population.

Is the image you display that of James Taylor, if so does his depressed personality suit your personality too?

Right, my last comment of the day, my iPhone app code will not write itself, time for a bit of 'work'.
