For some it means sweating on top of a rent boy in a smarmy short time room before going home to the twink of his dreams.  For people from cold climes it can be as little as waking up in a warm, sunny

  • How is the economy not a scam?

  • living the dream means anything, mopping the floor could be living the dream if happy and content doing that

Waking up is always a good start.  Knowing dog, daughter & wife are healthy, happy, and will never have any financial worries.   A dream come true, while lived & still living life to it's fullest.

Doing what ever, how ever and when ever I want, anything & everything that makes me smile.

FREEDOM & INDEPENDENCE of anyone or thing :coffee1:

living the dream means living with a hot girl and not being money challenged

Oh don't be Gender bias please !

During Pattayas heydays, surely for most Farangs it was affordable sex and affordable booze. The affordability has decreased massively.

A bit of honesty is in order I say. Nobody came for the temples.

So, I don't know what todays Farangs in Pattaya classify as "living the dream".

Yes very good point ..and ...does this current generation eg 55 plus,  think living the dream is the same as ones 20 years ago thought,??

Recent arrivals in Pattaya may find Pattaya quite "interesting". Good thing that they don't know what Pattaya used to be.

I know 20 years ago I didn’t even think about a life in Asia so would say this 55 (59) yr old didn’t think like that at 35 (39).

This comes close for me ....

The super hot girl I fancied 15 years ago is still beautiful and still with me.  She's utterly faithful, devoted to looking after me, helped build our home and build our business, and being 24 years younger than me, she still looks young to me.

Only slight negative that may fade the dream a little, is she snores 🤣

That depends on who we talk about. I mean everyone's dream is different, no?

E.g. I doubt the person u refer to would survive long say in David Goggins dream 😂

i genuinely believe youre not gonna find the passion and affection from a bloke,

that is in a hot girl , if the stars finally align

Living the dream means that you don't expect your inner issues to get solved just with a warm climate, cheap booze or cheap prostitutes.

Living the Dream isn't about alcohol and sex, unless that was lacking most of your life :coffee1:

Ice cream, sex and alcohol

For some, too many, living the dream is just getting ahead, out of poverty, food & roof over one's head, and then later, getting kids education & self sufficient.

Others, starting with that, home ownership, and maybe a nice car, 2nd or new, and throw in a week or 2 of holiday, and they're in bliss.

For me, that was different stages of living the dream.  Now retired, and can't think of anything else, a next level of 'dream', unless hitting the 'PowerBall' :cheesy:

The Sex Drugs & RR, been there, done that, and going by some AN posting, many, most didn't have that in their lives, so can understand that now, with freedom to be 'happy', they are living the dream.

Even though their financials or material world may be a bit less than others would even consider acceptable.  It's their world, their dream.

Different strokes for different folks, what ever puts a smile on your face works.

So I guess the 'thumb down' votes are out of jealousy from people who are living in a nightmare?

Living the dream means to have a purpose to live for!

Simple as that

Very True. I’m not living the dream right now. I’m retiring in 3 years’ time, and I have some stuff and pass times, I like but I’m still to find a deeper purpose

Will you get it after you retire you think?

But the modern world is a scam. All fake money.

I think there are issues but what world was better?  We live in a time where poverty and major wars are extremely rare.  Poor people here in Thailand have motorcycles and many even manage to have AC, hot water, and have access to too much food.  Times are good!

BTW, I think the money and debt issues will end terribly but after the adjustment which IMO will be harsh the world will move right past the hiccup in the grand scheme of things and carry on.

Living the dream for me was, retirement in my large UK house, with my log fire burning, my Brit wife and surrounded by my children and grandkids.

But that dream unexpectedly ended, and I suddenly found myself living in the tropics, having sex with many much younger women, drinking a lot and generally behaving as a fully funded 20 year old on holiday.

My current life isn't any dream I ever had!

So you're cool with where you are now?  Not sure what the last sentence means.  Seems like coming to Thailand has been good for you.

I'm adaptable, I guess here is as good a life as an old guy could get.

But it's not something I ever dreamed about.

Not to mention I prefer to be warm rather than cold.

The only thing you need to understand here is that if you are spending more than an hour per day on AN, and making more than 2 posts a day, then you definitely are not living the dream.

Not heard that one before.

That's funny.  :cheesy:

I want to be super-fit, have a low stress, low time commitment relationship, and travel outside SEA 2 months a year, and inside SEA one month a year.

And in 2026, I'll do it.
