What is paedophilia?

Featured Replies

All the salacious interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case, has caused me to reflect on what paedophilia really means.

Jeffrey Epstein was apparently not a paedophile. This is a misuse of a word meaning sexual interest in pre-adolescent children. A good example would be Catholic priests and altar boys.

Epstein was an ephaebophile and so were his rich and powerful friends.

In many societies, girls can be married off as soon as they start menstruating, say, 13 or 14. Poor families simply cannot pay for their education or vocational training much less afford a dowry.

Is it morally wrong to mate a, say, 50-year old with an adolescent child? We may find it disgusting but it's the fact in many cultures and countries. Do we blame them?

The simple reason for this is that nubility perpetuates the species. A man of 80 is fully capable of fathering a child while a woman loses that ability after menopause.

Many countries, at the behest of the American morals police, have raised their age of  consent from 13 to 15 to 18. However, in some African countries the lowest age of sexual consent is 11-13; in South America, 14 is the norm. This fact has resulted in some legal sex tourism. This indeed may be paedophilia despite menstruation.

When that adolescent gets a little older, say 16 or 17, the game changes. No longer really a child except in the eyes of arbitrary laws, they become sexually desirable and themselves sexually interested. Pretty rare for a 15-year old to still be a virgin these days! The 'child' also develops sexual feelings for themselves and wants to experiment. Do we blame them?

All men, that's you and me, take a (longing?) look at teenagers. We may even fall in love at a distance! We are built to look and appreciate. Depending on your age, it would be unfair to chat up that most delicious time of all in a girl's life. If you were younger, she might even have appreciated your attention!

If you think this is not true for you, you're either lying or blind! Look to the wonderful photography of David Hamilton. He was vilified and hounded into suicide at age 83.

And by the way, Kevin Spacey is still a great actor, the only factor on which he should be judged It was criminal that he was blackballed by Hollywood. In case you've forgotten, watch American Beauty (1999) and the TV series, House of Cards.

Young marriages.

Eleanor of Provence (c. 12): She married Henry III in 1236 when she was approximately 12 or 13 years old.

Eleanor of Castile (13): She married the future Edward I in 1254 at the age of 13.

Philippa of Hainault (14): She was betrothed at 12 and married Edward III in 1328 at the age of 14.

Isabella of France (c. 12): Married to Edward II in 1308, she was likely 12 years old at the time of the wedding.

Isabella of Angoulême (12–14): Sources vary on her exact birth date, but she was likely between 12 and 14 when she married King John in 1200.

Matilda of Boulogne (14): She married the future King Stephen in 1125 at the age of 14.

Margaret of Anjou (14): She was married to Henry VI by proxy in 1444 and in person in 1445, when she was 14 or 15 years old.

It was considered normal to take child brides at one time.

As I said above, if you're not looking at and appreciating women, you're lying. I assume that this is not speech-to-text.

Assessing the opposite sex is part and parcel of both XY and XX chromosomes.

Guilt? Well, can't get busted for looking...yet. Believe me, even Mormon missionaries & Jehovah's Witnesses look!

According to the DSM, pedophilia is sexual attraction to prenubile bodies. Very different from the redefinition given by the gynocracy and adhered to by the scared crowds nowadays.

I don't think anybody cast judgement on Spacey's acting ability.

But when numerous people come out and make allegations that they were sexually abused by someone, of course movie studio's are going to wash their hands of them.

How is the Sydney gay Mardi Gras these days?

I remember going every year, back in the late '80s, with my girlfriend.

Then we'd go to a warehouse at the Sydney showground for the house party (OUTSTANDING), leaving early morning to go home.

It was the very best time, I remember it so well.

Rich & famous people are always targets to be accused for quick payout.  Spacey got screwed, and not in a good way.

And a lot of rich people get away with stuff because they can pay for the best legal team.

Regardless, when numerous allegations are made, true or not, companies don't want the negative publicity.

It was always going to happen.

Nevertheless, Spacey was blackballed and will likely never act again. This won't blow over in his lifetime.

This reminded me of casting-couch Weinstein. It is the honest truth that people with big carrots use them to lure girls into their web. Favours for favours, if you will.

Religious leaders, politicians, educators, job offers, prison guards aso are all in the same ballgame, using an imbalance of power to their advantage. In at least some of these instances, it sure smells like rape to me.

I certainly wouldn't complain.  Although if it was a man, grooming my 15 or 16 yr old daughter, then banging her when she turned 17,  they might have a hard time finding the body :cheesy:

To add some reality to the thread... I was out clubbing when I was fourteen years old. Given alcoholic drinks by a barmaid and was living with her when I was fifteen. Moved into another twenty plus year old's place when I was sixteen. Moved into my own place when seventeen, with the latter girl furnishing the place.

I obviously have a different perspective on women than most on here.

I also know of school teachers who were salivating and hitting on fifteen year olds under their charge.

Most here have little idea of female behaviour. That's why I don't ever need to pay them, as i understand women better than most whom I see posting here.

In general, I would say that I am where I am today because of my relationships with women.

Have you thought about posting some of your fiction in the Pub forum, it'd be great reading sitting back, drinking a beer 👍

That's a remarkable accomplishment - never having to pay even a dinner for a woman or take her on a shopping spree.
