Two ladyboys were arrested for allegedly pickpocketing an Israeli tourist on Walking Street in Pattaya. The suspects, Chanayut from Nakhon Ratchasima and Kritsana from Roi Et, were detained after one of them dropped the stolen cash, prompting police intervention. The victim, a 52-year-old Israeli national named Mr. Chamam, reported the theft totaling $388.50, including both cash and foreign currency.

This incident occurred near a currency exchange booth where the suspects were caught in the act. Tourist police acted swiftly upon noticing the disturbance in the bustling area. Both suspects admitted to the crime and were charged with nighttime theft, which involves more severe penalties than theft during the day under Thai law. This can lead to imprisonment of one to five years and fines between 20,000 to 100,000 baht.

Authorities emphasized the importance of being cautious with personal belongings, particularly in crowded spaces such as tourist hotspots. They highlighted that thefts tend to increase during festivals when areas are more crowded. The arrest serves as a reminder for increased vigilance and the need for tourists to secure their valuables.

Moving forward, police are expected to increase patrols in tourist-heavy areas to deter such incidents. The court proceedings will determine the penalties for the suspects, reflective of the stringent Thai laws designed to protect tourists and residents alike. Visitors are encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately, reported Khaosod.

Key Takeaways

  • Two suspects were arrested for pickpocketing an Israeli tourist.
  • The theft involved a total of $388.50 in various currencies.
  • Police urge vigilance in crowded areas to prevent such crimes.

LBNT. Ladyboy nighttime theft. It is an absolutely rampant event in Pattaya, which seems to attract the lowest of the low when it comes to ladyboy culture in Thailand. True desperados, and one cannot possibly keeping enough distance from ladyboys in general, in that town.

*The Ladyboy was just taking the money back from what was stolen from a Palestinian"?

My predictable comment was more in line with 'they will be out picking pockets for Christmas!'

Walking Street is the only one in Pattaya with a regular police presence.  Imagine the impact of seeing more cops out & about elsewhere; even on the roads!

They need culling. Should be easy enough as they lurk at the same, well known locations such as near ATM. Their goose-like honking makes them even easier to pick out from the herd.

Of course it's the Israeli's fault! These guys won't wear gold chains, so what else can the ladyboys do?

sounds like you are anti-ladyboy

Seriously, though, we would mock a nighttime theft (he was clearly cruising) by a ladyboy of any nationality; just because it's an Israeli, it's not allowed?

We never hear about them being jailed or fined.

Could it be they kickback to the police every week and when caught get arrested and told to take the rest of the night off?

He was clearly using an ATM.

Yes we do. It has been reported many times that they are either fined or banged up for the night if they plead bahtless.

It's a 'catch and release' program from Pattaya's finest.

Are you suggesting there should be some kind of purge?

Not gonna “blame the victim” but that’s more money than you need to spend day to day, and it’s ill advised to exchange money or use ATM in risky areas. Glad he got his money back and he had justice.

That "joke" gets poster numerous times everyday in many different locations

How was he clearly cruising? They accosted him at a currency exchange booth. They  nicked  $388. That's not going to go very far.

What? 12,000 baht was stolen. Our meal for 2 last night was last night 7500 baht, including a bottle of wine. A visit to a decent evening venue will easily cost 5,000 baht for a few drinks and gratuities for serving staff. The families visiting from  Sweden and Norway easily drop 12-20,000 baht on a basic steak and seafood dinner. A  shopping excursion to Robinsons  is easily 10,000 baht. A room at a decent hotel like the Pattaya Hilton is 10,000 baht+

Sohm nahm nah to the Israeli.

Anyone fool enough to be where large numbers of ladyboys congregate and not protect their personal possessions deserves to get ripped-off.

😴 Give it a rest.

Let’s hope they’re given the max sentence 5y and taken off the streets. Nothing against ladyboys in general (each to their own) but the scum that washes up in Pattaya to prey on visitors need culling… right up there with bothersome macaques and bitey dogs.

Maybe he wasn't on his guard.

He might have bought into the woke claptrap about "gender diversity" and "sex workers" with hearts of gold.

Live and learn,,, this is the place for it.  TIT.

Because he got money exchanged at night while frequenting Walking St in Pattaya.... Do you think he was going to drop a donation off at the local temple?

The victim complex is strong in this post. Most people call for the removal of katoeys from mainstream civilization.

True, but I like to set my own working hours.

It doesn't really matter that the victim is Israeli or that the thieves are Katoi does it? What's the relevance? Tourist from pretty wealthy country gets pickpocketed in less wealthy country. So what? A tale as old as time.

That and there are more and better pickpockets in Italy and Spain.
