I rather suspect, if he loses control of the Senate and The House of Repesentatives he will be impeached.

 

Now I am not sure that will be a good result, partly because it will put Vance in The Oval Office, and partly because it is not a particularly good precedent, it is by no means unusual for a sitting president to not control Congress; if that means almost automatic impeachment it will lead to instability.

 

Far better that he is left, the lamest of lame ducks, propped up on political and quite possibly actual, life support, a grotesque babbling reminder to the American electorate to ponder before the next General Election. The worst effects of his bizarre policies can be mitigated by a re-invigorated Congress.

As a former POTUS , Trump had the authority to hold the documents.  Kept in a secure place.
