December 28, 2025Dec 28 A family member of myn is traveling from the Uk to Thailand and while in Thailand they have a referal from a uk doctor to get mri of lumber spine carried out. Have contacted a few hospitals and they all say according to the hospital policy we not accept letter from another Dr and you need to see their own Dr in there hospital before it is carried out. Is this correct what they are telling us even though we have referal from uk nhs Dr? He then wants to take the result of the mri to bnh hospital to Prof. Wicharn Yingsakmongkol as reccomended by another member on another thread on here. Will BNH hospital accept the results of the mri from another hospital? Or will they expect it to be carried out there? Thanks
December 28, 2025Dec 28 I just had one at Kalasin MRI which is a clinic in Kalasin. I did see a refering specialist at a hospital near the clinic. B300 for the refering dr. MRI lumbar spine B8500. You probably should get in contact with the Dr you are going to see over here as he would want to do some preliminary tests and decide how he wants the MRI taken. The report and CD would be sent to the refering Dr over here. I asked for the scan etc to be sent back to my Dr overseas, but they only sent the report not the scan, so I had to post the CD overseas. Get 2 CDs one for Dr here and one for Dr back home.

Already have all the information and the referal letter from the NHS so I don’t see any need for preliminary tests or how the mri should be done as it’s already on the referal letter

See a doctor, then the specialist. You can show your letter, just be nice and give them the translation. The MRI or CT will be accepted in case they show what is important for a diagnosis and subsequently the likely following treatment.
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Seems to be normal here to see the Dr first, maybe 1,000+ baht. Alternatively try link below where you don't need to see a Dr. BTW a referral means nothing here https://mrithailand.com/en/
December 28, 2025Dec 28 You do not need to do this at a hospital. Go to an imaging center. They will give you the scan on DVD to bring to the doctor and yes, no problem with hospital accepting an MRI done elsewhere. mrithailand.com There is a branch near Silom not too far from BNH.
