They had a weed bust last year in Siem Reap using that technique.

That Uzbek girl looks hefty. Clearly for the Indian tourist market. Also, they should ban Africans from Thailand

How about the white Africans?

They are usually refugees from racism and persecution...

Perhaps he has let loose a silent burst of flatulence?

Surprise, surprise... I prefer Thai gals personally. wink

Boy, aren't they the lucky ones, eh?

Fine way too low but deporting is good. Now, round up all the other sex workers on Beach Road every night.

A post with an offensive trolling comment toward Pattaya has been removed:

  • You will not post slurs, degrading, or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, Thai people, Thai culture,Religion, Thai institutions such as the military, judicial or law enforcement system, or specific locations within Thailand.

Beach Road sex workers are regularly rounded up for soliciting. They pay a small fine and are released. It's cyclical.

And who is this?

who gives a ****

This quote from the article really wants me to throw up, "This action aligns with local efforts to maintain public order and uphold the city's image as a family-friendly tourist destination".

The hypocrisy of the RTP, politicians and all other officials is what makes me sick. Simply prostitution whether it be Thai or foreign is illegal BUT not only do all tourists know, RTP knows and ALL officials know it is available and it is available 24/7,

Excuse me for a second I need to throw up again!

Ahh!!! I feel much better now as I tossed up at the front of the RTP station not far from Walking Street and all was quiet on the "Western Front"?

I know this is off topic, but please bear with me. I had to comment on this after seeing these girls faces covered. Back in the UK pictured in a local newspaper, there is a thief being caught on CCTV robbing a till in a hotel while the desk was unoccupied. His face is covered like the girls in the photo.

What sort of mentality is that? Isn't the UK a first world country? What was the point of a CCTV if it is going to blur the faces of someone committing a crime? Crazy!

Yes. Isn't the whole point that you will know to avoid these people? Maybe report you know of other wrongdoings they have been involved in.

To protect the innocent and the wrongly accused, an accusation is not a conviction.

Anyone accused of a crime is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence until guilt is proven in a court of law. Only after that process has been completed can a person be lawfully and ethically described as guilty.

Imagine being wrongly accused of theft and having your face splashed across the media before any verdict is reached. The consequences could be severe and irreversible - ranging from public humiliation and reputational damage to loss of employment, financial harm, and long-term social stigma. Even if innocence is later established, the damage is often already done.

It is all part of the pantomime.

Officials know exactly what is going on. They know that everyone else knows they know. Yet the ritual continues regardless.... Often raids are carried out, investigations announced, the hub of crackdowns etc... inevitably “find no evidence of prostitution”.... or in this case "no Thai prostitution"...

This is not oversight or incompetence - it is theatre. A choreographed performance designed to demonstrate action without disturbing the underlying reality. The appearance of enforcement is maintained, headlines are generated, and plausible deniability is preserved, while nothing of substance changes.

The audience is expected to applaud the performance and pretend the outcome was never predetermined.

Your comments only enforce what we all know and yet add no extra knowledge? So what was the point of a long winded explanation to what I had already described in brief terms?😁

Spelling it out for you - you seemed a little lost, too busy throwing up.

Sorry for the naive question, but who are their customers? Why would foreign guys - from anywhere - come to Pattaya and then decide he's going to overlook all the hot Thai girls and go for some middle aged African hooker?

Pattaya's bright reputation as a family friendly resort has been saved by this operation!

Envision all of them confined within a small, cramped cell during the night. From a bird's-eye view captured by a drone, the scene might resemble a large chocolate mousse, adorned with a dollop of whipped cream on top. 😄

The arrests were made following reports of these individuals aggressively soliciting tourists

The only aggressive 'solicitors' on beach road are the ladyboys.

Female hookers, especially non natives, just stand under the coconut trees and wait to be approached by potential punters, or to have a coconut fall on their heads.

This action aligns with local efforts to maintain public order and uphold the city's image as a family-friendly tourist destination.🤣

Please Copy, Paste and print off a few dozen copies for the BIB so they know what they're supposed to be looking after!

Here are some possible answers:

Stingy Sex tourists on a tight budget.

Drunken men who wake up the next morning, wondering who they ended up in bed with, and expats like me living off a modest pension... quite the mix!😄

Why are they all obese? They kept the good looking ones for their own consumption?

Because they are reliable providers, don't flake, don't stand-up the men, go with johns older than themselves.

The question you should ask is "why would foreign guys - from anywhere - come to Pattaya in order to speak broken English to Thai grannies in beer bars". Because frankly, it's not like we farangs would have "hot (young) Thai girls" chasing us is it?

I was told they don't just fine those girls, they deport them. Damned pity if you ask me.

Sex workers are only for netizens. It is a protected job. Besides 8 foreign sexworkers will surely give this city a bad name as there are already thousands doing the same. The whole world knows that Pattaya is the capital of sex. So ehy worried about 8 foreigners?

I applaud the BiB for arresting foreign sex workers in Thailand. It's the right thing to do.

With the exception of some women from Laos, Cambodia and Burma, all foreign female sex workers in Thailand are trafficked. The BiB have a strong motivation to make arrests: Thailand's ranking in the U.S. Dept. of State's annual Trafficking in Persons (TIP). report. https://www.state.gov/reports/2024-trafficking-in-persons-report/thailand/

If Thailand gets a lower rating than neighboring countries, that's a huge loss of face for the Thai government. The TIP rating also has practical consequences, as some international companies and organizations are hesitant to make investments in or hold events in countries with low TIP ratings. Making some high-profile busts from time to time wins some Brownie points with the State Dept. officials who monitor the trafficking situation in Thailand.

Some farang have a much narrower concept of trafficking than that used by the United Nations in the Protocol on Trafficking in Persons (TIP).  The Protocol has been ratified by 185 U.N. members and forms the basis for national laws against trafficking in those countries, including Thailand. https://www.ohchr.org/en/instruments-mechanisms/instruments/protocol-prevent-suppress-and-punish-trafficking-persons

Here's the disconnect:  many posters consider trafficking to be luring girls into prostitution through trickery, force or even kidnapping. They don't feel girls who consent to prostituting themselves in foreign country have been trafficked.  And by all accounts, the vast majority of women who participate in commercial sex while abroad do so of their own free will. The number who are actually forced into prostitution through physical violence is small.

However, the U.N. Protocol specifically states "The consent of a victim of trafficking in persons to the intended exploitation ... shall be irrelevant ..."  (See Article 3. paragraph b at https://www.unodc.org/res/human-trafficking/2021the-protocol-tip_html/TIP.pdf )

Any time a second party knowingly  arranges or facilitates the travel of a woman to another country for purposes of prostitution, it's human trafficking, whether or not the woman is a willing participant.

Bottom line is that the African and Uzbek streetwalkers and escorts in Thailand are trafficked, but with their consent.
