The only people I expect to see in opposition is the far left , the international left, a few Trump haters and a couple of Libertarians , otherwize the guy had numerous opportunities to change his ways, instead he neglected to appease the USA.

Sanctions on Maduro's family and allies.

Designation of Maduro and his government as part of a foreign terrorist organization.Strikes on alleged drug trafficking boats and facilities linked to Venezuelan gangs.

An oil blockade and other measures accusing the regime of narco trafficking.

Google ai overview.

The status of the Nicolás Maduro regime in Venezuela is a matter of significant international dispute; many countries and international bodies consider his regime illegitimate due to a history of fraudulent elections and human rights abuses, while others still recognize him as the legitimate leader .

That's great news. Now they just need to look at the Smartmatic logs and see who the people really voted for.

I salute the US armed forces. But I hope the US politicians don't leave a power vacuum. Again.

Islam and decent government are mutually exclusive unless the population is bought off like in Saudi Arabia.

Why should an independent head of state have to appease the USA?

So another country raids and arrests the guy. How about the ICC

Nice pretext btw, it's about oil, nothing to do with Maduro.

On this one, I don't care... as Maduro is a muppet and dictator that should have just carried on driving buses.

Personally, I think the US will facilitate the instillation of that recent winner of the Nobel Peace prize as the new president, and give her lots of support in many ways, thus gaining a good foothold in the area... obviously with strings attacted, but she's internationally credible and would be accepted as an end result for this situation, which is the US exit idea/point. Actually, not a bad plan if that's what they do as anyone is better than Maduro and his narco-allies.

However, those with crystal balls will obviously make subjective conjecture about it all, as usual.

My crystal ball says the same as yours.

I don't think Noriega had a wife, but that's what they did to him. And Panama seems to be better off for it.

I remember watching an interview with an ex-CIA officer, and he said that if you want to have an idea about what the future US foreign policy is likely going to be, then you need to watch and understand US naval deployments.

As far as I'm concerned, Maduro the ex-bus driver is a massively corrupt criminal dictator that Venezuela would be better off without.

It’s true that Venezuelan is better off without Maduro. But, the US is not all that successful with regime change. I hope USA has a leader ready to go.

Too bad about the Noble Peace Prize. Maybe he was so pissed off that no one recognised his peace initiatives he has said stuff them and start a new war. Maybe he can sack the commottee and install his own.

Wonderful for Venezuelans, though why would any rational person have a problem with this?

Fox News is reporting Maduro and his wife are in US custody and will stand trail.

Secretary of State Rubio stated further military operations are not anticipated.

Perhaps a rational person would consider the precedence this sets.

China in particular might think it’s a really good development.

Chomper a day late and a Venezuelan bolivar short. Putin set the precedence for dear friend Xi on February 24, 2022.

Precedence, what precedence? No precedence have been set here.

Yeah well, the allies of the US are all for it. Though the adversaries of the US are going to raise a lot of hell and saber rattling, so whatever you got to say about it isn’t going make a whole lot of difference to the US and its allies.

Whatever happened to the objections from Trump’s supporters, foreign and domestic, to the U.S. being the world’s policeman?

https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/world/20200614/trump-says-us-is-not-policeman-of-the-world

From an outsider, looking away as much as possible, the USA bias on this forum is becoming tiresome. I will give you a quote from one of you own, a man of the world named Doug Casey:

Those who find that thought offensive likely suffer from a psychological aberration called “nationalism”; in serious cases it may become “jingoism.” The authorities and the general public prefer to call it “patriotism.” It’s understandable, though. Everyone, including the North Koreans, tends to identify with the place they were born. But these things should be fairly low on any list of virtues.

Nationalism is the belief that my country is the best country in the world just because I happen to have been born there. It’s most virulent during wars and elections. And it’s very scary. It’s like watching a bunch of chimpanzees hooting and panting at another tribe of chimpanzees across the watering hole. I have no interest in being a part of the charade—although that’s dangerous.
