Most Inuit Greenlanders hate the Danish, who tried to genocide them with a long-term secret IUD program, where Inuit women and young girls visiting Danish clinics for "health checks" were for unknowingly fitted with dangerous coil IUDs that were left in for years, leaving many sterile and in chronic lifelong pain. It was total "Dr. Mengele" stuff. The Inuit in Greenland are ripe for a better offer (The Spiral Case).

Offer the 57,000 residents:

1. US Citizenship (optional)
2. $1m each
3. New house
4. $10b to Greenland treasury

Then offer to help defend and build the island for tourism and projects to enrich the community as win/win.

Still less than what somalians have stolen from US taxpayers.

You start with an unsubstantiated lie. There is resentment, but hatred, no. The locals know what the reality is and are aware of how the USA has crushed its own native peoples and disrespected the Alaskan natives. No amount of money will get them to sell out their people now. You just do not understand the local culture. They are one people with Canada's Inuit. That is who they have an affinity to. A social union with their related people across the Baffin Bay is more likely.

The ignorance of of the proponents of the land grab reflects their poor education. Greenland is only 20km from Canada's Ellesmere Island. It is 300km from Iceland. The air cargo corridors are the routes from Denmark, Germany and Canada.

Greenlanders do not want to transact with the USA. They showed it last July when they picked the Toronto-based Greenland Resources company for a 30-year permit in Greenland to mine molybdenum, a critical mineral used in solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries as well as aerospace and military manufacturing. Greenland Resources is backed by the European Raw Material Alliance, and holds the licence to the Malmbjerg project in eastern Greenland. The Europeans are partnering with Canada, not the USA, because the Canadians are more respectful of agreements and relationships. There is a cost to arrogance and aggression. At this point the USA is not a reliable partner in anything.

  • Trump will probably get his way with Greenland. No invasion. No troops. He will simply pay the 56,699 people living there enough money that they will say yes in a referendum. It's well worth reading

Now there’s a good idea have the Danes host a bunch of nato personnel in Greenland!I like that then the old fool would have to directly attack NATO…….i don’t think even his todys would tolerate that!

Already been done, except Denmark hosted Canadian and US military for NATO exercise.

Denmark should put 50k troops on the ground all over Greenland to send a message to old Trump and his radical team.

Even if they freeze their butts off put them in Greenland. Dont let the old dinosaur invade.

I would like to see a larger combined force from 'the willing countries in Greenland (from Germany, France, England, Spain, Italy, Turkey. Poland' - perhaps there's more) to show trump and putin there's other big players in this game.

EU can't even help Ukraine. They have nothing.

Although I think the US purchasing Greenland is absurd on many levels, I'll play the game and say there is a pathway to that becoming a reality. First, the US would have to negotiate with the people of Greenland (more on that below) and they agree to vote on a referundum of independence from Denmark (which they have been given the right to do). Once independent, they either sell their nation to the US or less likely, agreee to become the 51st state ("Trumpland" probably). Then they get their monetary awards that were agreed to. Could be $1-2M each (about $50-100B total) and profit sharing (via shares) on various energy and mineral sales that would be worth billions more over the decades to every Greenland family. The current market estimates for Greenland are from $70-100B to $1T. Will cost a lot of money to make Greenland viable for exploration and production, and military installations. Would you get enough islanders to agree? Who know. But this seems to be a non-lethal and legal way to make it happen.

I have a expensive crop on my land and my bigger neigbour says he wants it and is going to take it.

How can taking something from a weaker person by force ever be classed as right?

We all have a duty to do what is right and to know the difference between right and wrong.

Not only that give them the same deal as ANCSA gave to Alaska Natives. They will be the richest people in the world.

2) the USA's record in dealing with indigenous peoples do you imagine that they would ever see a penny?

Why dont you ask Alaska Natives how they have been treated.
