Did Powell lie to Congresss? If he did, should he be prosecuted?

Not only did he lie to congress when Kamala Harris was running for president he managed to shave 0.5% off of the interest rates in an attempt to give her chances a boost.

I don't like you Powell, you didn't obey me when I asked you to lower rates, you've been very disobedient, you've shown a major lack of fealty to the new king, and you need to be dismissed. As far a

  • Yes, he's served under four GOP and Dem administrations, and now the convicted criminal wants a Yes-man in his place. Well, America, good luck with that, cause it sure as frack didn't end well in Turk

I suppose this is the only thing Trump can do seeing as Trump himself has been indicted for espionage. Dropped or not, jack Smith wasn't allowed to reveal facts to Congress openly.

When was he indicted for "espionage".? Oh got it, you just make stuff up LOL

'Trump’s Attack on the Fed Is Already Backfiring'

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/12/opinion/trump-jerome-powell-federal-reserve.html?unlocked_article_code=1.D1A.prmm.Ae6dVeYBzsYs&smid=url-share

https://archive.ph/JOZCv

"Mr. Trump’s attack on the Fed is a breathtaking departure from precedent, a dangerous and scary power grab, but it’s already backfiring. If anything, this latest episode has weakened his ability to bend the institution to his will, at least in the short run. It definitely increases the chance that Mr. Powell, whose term as chair ends in May, but whose appointment as a board member does not, will remain at the Fed longer than he might otherwise have."

A dangerous and scary power grab. DSPG. That could describe everything about this spectacularly toxic administration and the very corrupt clown. Some supporters seem to be snapping out of their comas, thankfully.

That doesnt make it. No President has ever been prosecuted for that, nor will one ever be prosecuted for that. If you dont understand why, go to Law School in the USA and you will learn.

Trump is neither preserving, protecting nor defending the Constitution of the United States and one doesn't need some American Law School degree to see that he's lying in that regard. One just needs common sense.

Guess that depends if you are an American who loves his country or not. I think he is doing a great job within the limits of the Constitution and I have a JD. You disagree. Thats fine. But under US Law, thats far different that being asked a question, under oath, before Congress and lying in your answer.

One of the Trump haters here thinks thats OK. How about you?

Does anyone on the right care if Powell is not guilty and just a(nother) victim of... what do you guys like to call it again? Lawfare?

I guess we'll need to wait and see how full Pam's in tray is at the DOJ is. Not a lot in her out tray right now.

Why is no one on the left ever able to answer a question?

If he is innocent, I hope he is exonerated.

Do you not think someone in charge of a public project that runs 50% over budget should be investigated?

No charges have been brought.

I sense your despair but you really need to ask a... what do you call them again? A lefty?

As far as I'm concerned the best way to do that is to shame you, humiliate you, try to convict you on fake charges, and always do the wrong thing whenever possible.

Gee that sounds familiar LOL.

They all just lie

Powell lied about the renovations . Prosecute him.

On the other hand , he will be replaced soon , hopefully by

someone that doesn't stab Trump in the back like Powell.

Dimon joins a growing chorus of luminaries backing Powell, with three former Fed chairs and four past Treasury secretaries issuing a forceful statement on Monday offering their support.

"The reported criminal inquiry into Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell is an unprecedented attempt to use prosecutorial attacks to undermine [the Fed's] independence," the statement said, which was signed by former Fed Chairs Janet Yellen, Ben Bernanke, and Alan Greenspan, as well as four past Treasury secretaries who served under Republican and Democratic presidents.

"This is how monetary policy is made in emerging markets with weak institutions,” the statement added. "It has no place in the United States whose greatest strength is the rule of law, which is at the foundation of our economic success."

How would any of these people know that the criminal investigation is baseless?

Why would anyone back anyone without knowing that?

He's not accused of anything, it's an investigation, I thought the left loved investigations, no?

What happened to "no one is above the law."?
