US Suspends Immigrant Visa Processing for Thailand

Correct. ICE now has a daily arrest quota of 3000 individuals. 3000! That's a lot of peope to find with either arrest warrants or probable cause. Remember, ICE needs to have one or the other to legally approach an individual. Obviously, they are having trouble meeting that huge daily number. So, doing things by the law has gone right out the window, resulting in ICE running amok, mostly unchecked.

Facebook is now filled with videos of ICE agents randomly stopping people with no warrant or probable cause and demanding they produce evidence on the spot that they are citizens. Totally illegal, folks. 4th Amendment. And, no, being non-White is not probable cause.

When you put up an impossible figure like 3000 arrests every day you are going to get the criminal abuses we are now seeing, as the agents try to make the quota, whatever way possible, legal or not. And, you're going to get tragedies like the Good murder.

Ah, your reply is refreshing to read, and from what I think maybe someone with a USA Passport, compared to typical e trash that stay so engaged in their hate for America and Trump. They must have nothing better to do than focus so much of their pitiful lives on hate.

But you, you are blind. And the Good death, that was gene pool cleansing.

The way things are going under the conmans rule, no one wants to go to the USA anyway. No real loss to anyone until the govt changes.

  • They're taking a timeout to evaluate why so many approved visa candidates end up on the dole when they come to the USA. Sounds reasonable to me. Sounds like the vetting process hasn't been working v

  • How many Americans are going on the dole in Thailand? Here's the key, from the OP: aiming to prevent the entry of individuals deemed likely to become a public charge.

Buddy! You suck at reading maps. The USA has a higher income than the majority of Europe. You can’t handle the fact that the USA is richer than Europe.

Is that in canadian dollars?

Canadian dollars, what a joke. I was working in Ottawa in the 80's and got transferred to Texas with the same company, same job,,same level. My Canadian salary was around $40k Canadian. The Texas salary was about $60k US. At the time the Canadian dollar was about the same as now at 0.75, so my pay went from $40k CDN to $75k CDN overnight.

Canadians get screwed all the time, and stuff costs more there too.

Maybe, but not you.... you’re dying broke in Thailand because America’s healthcare priced you out.

I was in Thailand last week. This week I’m in the USA in my paid off home, and I have a private healthcare plan in the USA. I’m not a broke ass retiree.

No I said multiple European countries have higher or comparable wages to the US, and I am not like you Wyt liberals over there (90% of you) as I accept reality on average the US has higher average salaries than Europe and I don't envy that at all. What I don't like is Americans as random tourists going to other regions trying to be 2 bit Interpol agents or snake in the grasses. Just mind you business or stay in the Americas of which Europeans built for you.

This guy saying this has his location as Angeles Philippines.. Now just saying the Failippines is enough and then you are in the niggest dump arguably in Asia talking like that?

Look at these guys. Got one who has his location as Angeles city in the Philippines trying to talk about absolutely anyone else being trash, and then another boasting hard about being rich on a forum dedicated to Thailand.. I just don't know what to say.. Can you guys start speaking another language? What was that weirdo called .. Yeah Geronimo. Start speaking his language and then we can ignore you easily.

Also my guy, you have nearly 5k posts on account that isn't even 2 years old. That's a lot of mouthing off and being a chatty patty. I have been all over SEA and with the exception of the Philippines, I like the region, or at least find it decent. What people in SEA do not like is very mouthy people such as yourself. I bet you can't shut your mouth and have an opinion on everything, and that is why I will go in on people just like you because you're inconsistent. Just like Western liberals and your blks over there in US or A.

Who cares about salary. It's discretionary spending power that's important. Also don't forget quality of life.

Stay in Canada and let Americans figure out how to solve our broken immigration policy. OK. Mind your own business.

As long as Trump is in charge, I don't expect much to get figured out, actually, I don't expect anything positive at all. As far as staying in Canada, fear not, I wouldn't dare think of risking life and limb by crossing the border to that NOW horrid country. I've travelled about 2/3 of the U.S. states over the years, back when it was a country with pride and a great place to leave my Canadian dollars.

Enjoy your life wherever you are. It might be best to try and hide the fact that you are American cuz Mr. Trump has given Americans a very bad image.

Oh, you poor, poor thang! I feel a teeny, tiny crocodile tear trying to force itself out of my right eye! I do! What a tragedy, a tragedy, that you did not grow up in Nazi Germany and, you poor thang, missed out on being a Nazi Storm Trooper! Oh, the humanity! I truly feel for your loss! Truly!

But, fear not! Rejoice! ICE is hiring! Yes! You heard right! You can be a Storm Trooper, just the American version! Many say they are even better than the Nazi Storm Troopers! They certainly have better weapons! And, masks! Yes, masks! Imagine the fun and excitement of trampling the 4th Amendment while you are 'gene pool cleansing', and with a mask! (Let's not even think about why you are wearing a mask while doing this cleansing! Keep your mind empty!)

Now, I want you to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and march yourself down to your nearest ICE agency! Make a copy of your Asean Now post, shove your way to the front of the line, and slap the copy in the recruiter's hand, while shouting NED WHICH RHYMES WITH DEAD is reporting for duty! Ahh, second chances!

Excuse me? You do know many countries in Western Europe have high average salaries, some of which have higher average salaries than the US? If you are going to try and link statistics then at least be on point. Otherwise I could be very flippant about the state of US cities. I'm not even thinking about going to Detroit, Baltimore and even as painful as it sounds New York due to safety (not exactly a 'premium experience').

Well stated. As a Canadian, I have no need or desire to cross that border and quite likely wind up in a hell hole prison subsequent to border guards inspecting my personal mobile phone and social media history. Besides, America has nothing we need (a takeoff on what Trump said about Canada). Like millions of others, I might reconsider my position once the government changes.

I think me and you are on totally different wave lengths. The US is far too liberal for me, just like all Western countries. I am not worried about any Trump crap, that's all puppetry. I couldn't be dealing with all of that acceptance of feminism and blacks being allowed to chimp out. No need for me to deal with that kind of nonsense.

Surely that's the point? Too many people going throuh the process without a hitch - including those that become dependent on the benefits system?

How often do you go home? I can't afford a home in the US and here but wish I could. Retired at 41 and sacrificed having the financial freedom you have. Still think it was a great choice but it would be nice to be able to go back to a home once a or twice a year.

Thailand should immediately revoke visa exempt travel for US passports.

Thailand, unlike the U.S. under Trump, sees the value of tourism spending. Rather doubt it if the Thais revoke visa exempt travel for U.S. passports.

My wife (marriage not registered but could be if needed ) needs to start the visa process and hope this won't complicate things. She isn't wealthy but has multiple properties and rental income (15-25k). Also has 1-2 million in the bank. She is in great health with no children and looks like a respectable 50+ ( biased I know ). I'm also financially stable but it is my understanding that my situation isn't a concern in regards to her visa.

Anybody out there have an opinion on the above? What issues might I expect?

My bad - thanks for setting me straight. I'm just looking at a tourist visa.

According to a release from the U.S. State Department, there will be extra scrutiny with tourist visa applications. We all know know what that means.

This is true, but I think we can anticipate greater than before scrutiny of tourist visa applications, especially by people with family in the US, due to suspicion that they may actually be looking to immigrate and applying as tourist instead now that immigration channel is suspended.

I have a very close friend interviewing on the 21st for tourist visa to visit her son and grandchildren in the US. Genuine, not looking to immigrate, but I fear her chances have just taken a nosedive. ☹️

The "public charge" provisions are not new, and said provisions have always made it next to impossible for the working class Thai to get simple tourist visas as well. The only Thai people who have ever had an easy entry path to the USA are the HiSo.

Nothing illegal about it. Just a bunch of anti-Trump stuff that is perfectly legal. No translation required. I openly and proudly stated that.

You do believe Trump and his mafia care what is legal and constitutional? They make their own rules which change from day to day.

Not revoke travel, require Visas, minimum income savings and criminal checks

By the way, Hawaiian one of my perfectly respectable Thai friends had a wonderful time with ICE at HNL airport after finally (Refused two times before) applying visitor visa to USA. She was separated from her husband and grilled. Accused of prostitution with zero evidence and warned not to run away like every Thai woman wants to escape her privileged life to become an Ala Moana "massagei" therapist.

We are advising our Thai friends to forget visiting us in Hawaii because there are just too many well publicized cases of foreign travelers being denied entry at HNL. The sad reality is that the U.S.has become a police state.

Last year two young German women were detained and put in detention overnight before being put on a departing flight. Immigration claimed they lied about where they would be staying in Hawaii. This story made local and national headlines with details of the horrid conditions they faced in detention.
