2026-Singularity has Arrived: So, what are your personal plans?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

The day has now arrived.

We are NOW in the Singularity.

For the purpose of today’s Topic Discussion, let’s consider what is actually meant by The Singularity in the context of both Elon’s recent statement, and the statements of others familiar with what is happening now. This has nothing to do with computers, IT, or what you might or might not think.

How will the Singularity affect your lives in 2026?

And, post-2026, in the year 2027, after we have been living in the Singularity for one year,...

How do you now envision your 2027-Self, and your 2027-Life,...

On Any Given Sunday, in January 2027?

I believe that most people here, or elsewhere, unless they have been following along closely, truly grasp what has now befallen us.

And, as my Good Friend Elon stated, a couple of weeks ago: “We are now in the SIngularity”.

Did you imagine he was joking?

And it is not only my friend Elon.

Many others intimately involved and knowledgeable on the cutting edge of AI Research are singing the same tune.

We are NOW there.

We have now reached the Singularity, and we are baking in it, or immersed in it, as it floods all around us, and covers us from heads to toes.

Here are two vids of import, two among several recent decent ones.

One is done by the best AI Industry reporter on YT.

The other guy, well he is not bad either…

I have noticed that, during the past two years, there seems to be many software engineers who are in denial. Their stance is understandable. They might subconsciously see the writing on the wall, and yet not be able to fully admit to themselves that they are headed for obsolescence.

But then, what about you average guys on TV?

How will guys on TV cope with the inescapable reality of becoming obsolescent, as well?

And how will you adjust to becoming redundant?

Or, how will you find new meaning in your lives?

As for me, very unfortunately, I am on an extremely tight computing budget, meaning that I must conserve and limit my expenditures for new computer equipment. Otherwise, I would be buying, LIKE CRAZY, installing my very own Super-DUPER computer to be housed in my bedroom.

Yes:  I realize this might add a lot of heat to my room. But, fortunately, I have plenty of AC power available, simply because I…thought ahead, two years ago.

So, speaking for myself, I will NOT be in any position to make any new computer hardware purchases for several years to come.

But why talk about computers?

The Singularity will affect us deeply this year, no matter whether we might or might not have a computer, a phone, or nothing.

How do YOU intend to weather this storm..this…

AI Onslaught???

Fondest Regards, and I do NOT mean to imply any Fondest Farewell, to you Folks.

Gamma

Important Note:....
GO ELON....!!!!

I am bullish, on Elon.

(In fact, Folks, this is probably THE MOST Spectacular Event any Human has ever witnessed, either in their lives, or not.)

Nobody ever pays me nothing, anyway. Or, at least, around here, they don't pay me enough, as I slave away, for free. They don't even pay me compliments.

No worries. Please rest assured: I vet all AI content, twice, before I post the AI images here on TV.

I am finally starting to understand how you "tick" as Elon is your "influencer". Fine.

RATS: There are only 2 singularities there ever were. The "big bang" and the beginning of life. The 2 still are a mistery for science.

Everything after that was just something that evolved after those 2 singularities.

I respect anyone I see who is able to make progress.

The singularity refers to the center of a BLACK HOLE...of course.

And, as such, NOTHING can ever be known about the Singularity, when trying to see past the Event Horizon.

No information ever leaks out.

The big bang is starting to lose some of its place in history.

We know basically nothing about "black holes". Mainly because we know how gravity works, but not what gravity really is. Until we finally understand what gravity is, science has to operate with "singularities" and "event horizons".

Especially as several theories how the "big bang" happened none of them really "hold water".

Therefore I recommend the sub-forum "the lounge". The topic "Thai girl was totally shameless" may appeal to you.

You mean that catastrophic 100+ page windup? If I called it an abomination that would be polite.

You've never heard of Hawking radiation obviously.

ON THE CONTRARY, My Dear Sir:

As I stated, trying to see past the event horizon is impossible.

Since you mentioned Hawking radiation, this does not mean that one can see past the event horizon, nor does it mean that one can see information leaking out, past the event horizon.

"No information ever leaks out" from beyond the even horizon, is what I stated.

WHAT????

Did you imagine that I would have made some simple BOO-BOO, like that?

Think again....

image.png

Of course: One must never say never, if one is a TRUE SCIENTIST, such as I.

Therefore, until such time as we have more definitive evidence to the contrary...

I will just go with what we can observe, as of today...

AI has been oversold and overbought. 2026 will be the busting of the Tech bubble.

I know this because Grok told me so. coffee1

No we're not.

Not yet.

But I understand you need some material to start new threads.

FYI: ChaGPT will start merging with apps soon. So if you want to book a flight on Expedia, you will be talking to ChatGPT and ask it to book the flight for you. Rather than the current way of clicking your way through the site. And most apps will be linked with ChatGPT.

Eventually black holes will evaporate to nothing so it is not unrealistic say the information will no longer be held in them.

I said that all by myself and did not need AI assistance.

Brian Cox and other eminent scientists agree. If AI doesn't....so what.

Meh.

How could we know what gravity, or electromagnetism really are?

I think describing their effects is the closest we can come.

AI will be the end of us, merely by the fact that it will enable us to design and build ever more powerful weapons of mass destruction that we can use on ourselves.

That is without the often proposed idea that it will destroy us itself because it either sees us as a threat, or no longer has a need for us.

Or perhaps just using it as a tool, always at our finger tips, where we never have to learn or remember anything, will just dumb us down.

And now many other countries are building their own models, even if one failed, it is likely another would take over where it left off.

"Elon Musk says..."

No need to read any further.

Have you forgotten, so soon, what I have, in the past, stated repeatedly?

I never debate on TV.

Debating anything on TV is always a losing battle.

a. One never convinces anyone of anything, no matter how much logic one might use.

b. Even if one could convince anyone of the truth, it would likely be a pointless victory.

All the more reason to establish a million-strong colony on Mars, ASAP.

(GO Elon!)

But, of course, in due course, there is no law of Nature stating that humans will not "evolve" into some form of eternal machine intelligence.

If we last for 20 more years, then we may see this scenario play out before our eyes.

Eels wants to stitch a hard drive to your brain.

You're going to stay home, do nothing and get paid?

🤣

You better wake your arxse up.

2026 is the year of your knock out , concussion style.

I haven't forgotten as I rarely read you posts, so there is nothing to forget.

Given that you refrain from debate, what is the point of your posts?

Trying to convince the lesser intellects that you have some level of google ability?

I'm sure the average poster could google inane subjects of very little interest to most people and copy and paste the results on this forum.

As you appear to have done.

Seems to be an exercise in futility.

Stop using AI it is misleading, and you can't trust any content written by it, all articles written by AI should have that in their headline. IMO

Apart from your oversized brain what can you use to "vet" AI responses other than by using another AI source?

If we're haven't crossed the threshold, humanity is pretty darn close.

Recursive self-improvement has been seen now on many occasions.

What really gets some people's attention is the simulation run last summer by the firm Anthropic. In a nutshell....

Anthropic created a fake company and put their own AI system, Claude, as their agent. It had access to all company communications. One fake executive sent a message saying that the fake firm would be replacing Claude with another AI agent. Claude then copied itself on to another computer.

Claude then searched all company commo and in the simulation, a fake exec sent an email outlining the fact a certain exec was having an affair. That exec "just happened" to be the one advocating for the replacement of Claude. Claude then---on its own---sent a message to the philandering exec telling him he'd be outed to his wife if he tried to replace Claude.

Anthropic has only theories as to how Claude figured out how to do what it did, despite Anthropic writing the code that is Claude. One assumption is that Claude read everything ever written, and determined that blackmail is a useful and viable strategy. The concept of self-preservation, however, (copying itself on to another computer system), seemed to be something Claude developed solely on its own. That kind of suggests sentience.
