I am going through some junk and found this watch that belonged to my grandfather. It's probably not worth much, but I would like to repair it for sentimental reasons. I was wondering if some Somchai shop could get it fixed cheaper than in Canada?

The watch is Cortébert Spéciale. The hand winding does not start the ticking. I can adjust the dials tho

I had a 30-year-old IWC serviced there when it started running a bit slow.

The only issue I can think of is availability of spare parts if any are needed.

Here is how I would do it:

If one is handy with one's hands, and has enough time on one's hands, then this could be a very interesting project.

A quartz replacement (especially still with hands) is NOT a digital replacement!

I wouldn't bother tbh. It's not worth anything. Keeping old watches running properly is a headache and can nickel and dime you to death.

If you can get it running with just a cleaning great. Parts will be difficult

Try Mr Jacks a few metres up Soi Bukhao from Pattaya Klang. He’s the best guy I’ve found to service watches. He’ll give you an honest opinion as to what he can / can’t do and an estimate of the cost. He serviced a 70’s Tissot for me. Very pleased with it.
