A video showing a British King’s Guard, of The Blues and Royals,  shouting a warning at a Thai female tourist has gone viral worldwide, prompting widespread discussion about tourist behaviour and respect for local rules. The clip, shared on January 27, 2026, captures the moment the guard raises his voice while on duty outside a royal palace in London. The incident quickly circulated across social media platforms, drawing significant public attention.

The footage was posted by the Facebook page The Royals King’s Guards England. It shows the woman posing for photographs beside a King’s Guard who was standing on ceremonial duty. As she leaned in too closely and appeared to touch him, the guard shouted, “Do not touch the King’s Guard!”

The woman was visibly startled by the outburst and screamed in reaction. She then apologised and spoke in Thai, explaining that she had been shocked by the sudden warning. Viewers who heard her speak identified her as Thai, which contributed to the clip spreading rapidly among Thai audiences.

British King’s Guards are known for maintaining strict discipline while on duty, particularly at royal palaces and other ceremonial locations. Guards are required to remain focused and are not permitted to interact with the public beyond issuing clear warnings when necessary. Touching or interfering with guards while they are on duty is prohibited under established protocols.

The viral clip has triggered online debate about appropriate conduct by tourists at cultural and ceremonial sites. Many social media users discussed the importance of understanding and respecting local customs when travelling abroad. Others focused on the guard’s adherence to duty and the reasons behind the firm warning.

The incident has also been shared widely by Thai media outlets, including Khaosod, which reported on the event the same day. The coverage has brought renewed attention to guidelines often given to visitors at major tourist landmarks in the United Kingdom. No further action or official response has been reported following the incident.

The video is likely to continue circulating as discussions about respectful tourism persist online. The event may encourage travellers to be more aware of local rules at historic and ceremonial sites.

And Thais complain about foreign tourists in Thailand?

Would Thais engage in the same behavior towards Royal guards in Thailand?

I've been acting the exact same as that guard at the watch sellers around the Nana area who touch me to get my attention.

Are Netizens not outraged this time 🙄

Not knowing is one thing, but laughing after? Just the normal behavior as soon getting told something or doing something wrong. Just laugh. It´s just stupid!

Normal people say oh, sorry my bad, or sorry, I didn´t know.

Clown show

I don't think so, these guards actually serve with guns in a totally different uniform....😉

Plus, it is a nice show for visitors from all over the world. And many other military 'shows' put on around the country for the same purpose.

I can recommend The Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London, which I have seen many times, as I was personally privy to the Tower of London.....😉

How about Secret Service, Customs guards, ICE, even local police? It's unbecoming! Selfie world, selfish people...

Many videos like this on YouTube of tourists from several different nationalities each not respecting the guards space.

Bit like comparing oranges and apples

The guy is probably pissed he got stuck in a crappy job standing still and looking like someone out of the 18th century.

I know they like hanging on to the past but maybe it's time for the Brits to wake up and join the 21st century.

Guard shouted"Don't let any Thaksin on the ballot!!!"

That would be you obviously!

This is a tradition that should be scrapped. No need for it anymore.

As for the stupid idiots who pose next to the guards, they truly are idiots.

Should all traditions be scrapped and if so which ones and why?
