Police rescued two Indian tourists who were being held for ransom in a condominium in Pattaya in the early hours of 7 February 2026, bringing a violent abduction to an end. The operation prevented further harm to the victims and resulted in the arrest of four suspects. One alleged gang leader escaped and remains at large.

At 1.20am on 7 February 2026, Pol Maj Gen Kriatsak Sratongoi, commander of the Investigation Division of Provincial Police Region 2, received reports that two Indian nationals had been abducted by a group of compatriots. The suspects demanded more than 6 million rupees, equivalent to about 2 million baht, for the victims’ release. The victims were being held inside a high-end condominium in the Phra Tamnak area of Pattaya.

According to police, the gang contacted the victims’ mother in India and pressured her to transfer the ransom money to secure her sons’ freedom. Fearing for their lives, she sought help from the president of the Indian Association in Chonburi. He provided location details to authorities, enabling a coordinated rescue effort.

Investigators from Provincial Police Region 2 worked with Chonburi Immigration Police to verify the information and plan the operation. Officers arranged for a condominium security guard to knock on the door of the unit, allowing police to rush in once it was opened. Inside, officers found the two victims with their hands bound and showing clear signs of physical assault.

The victims reported being beaten, kicked, and stomped while held on the 16th floor of the building. They said they had been intercepted outside a hotel, forced into a vehicle and taken to the condominium against their will. The gang allegedly used the victims’ phones to threaten family members with murder and dismemberment if the ransom was not paid.

Four Indian nationals were arrested at the scene: Ankit, aged 24, Sahil, aged 31, Shivam, aged 29, and Joban Singh, aged 27. Joban Singh was apprehended in a lift as he attempted to flee the building. The alleged ringleader managed to escape before officers arrived and is being actively pursued.

Police have charged the suspects with conspiracy to demand ransom, unlawful detention and causing bodily harm. All four have been transferred to Pattaya City Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities said investigations are continuing and that Pattaya, as a major tourist destination, must remain safe.

Good, old Pattaya. Still attracting the best and the brightest from all over the world.

Why are those two dudes sitting like that?

Can't they sit up straight, with their feet on the ground, like normal people do?

Makes one ask the question: What caste?, even...

No Keck around here, thankfully, I am pleased to say.

Pretty sure they either used the tracking for the phone and CCTV video to locate the building and room. Sometimes like this all the cameras and surveillance pays off.

The Sikh extortion gangs are a worldwide problem. Although the groups who carry out the extortion and kidnappings are considered to be organized crime gangs, they are almost always linked to Khalistan separatist / terrorist groups who use the money to fund their activities. They prey upon the Sikh community and are out of control in Canada and in the UK. The perps come in to a country, do their crimes and then run back to India where they disappear.

I read that when they return to India the police carry out diligent searches and Sikh them everywhere to no avail

The Chinese are running similar scams in Australia with Chinese students kidnapped for ransom!

Thanks for this good info. It seems that from the lowest of the low to the very tip top of society, it usually comes down to some type of criminal gangs. They have very different appearances and approaches but in the end $$$ is the object.
