What do you wear on your feet in Thailand? Or is it nothing at all?

a comfortable and lightweight pair of cross-training sport shoes with ankle-high socks

FFS! Trainers plus socks in this climate = hot sweaty smelly feet & shoes = athlete's foot & fungal toe nails.

What, like the 30 Baht kind from the night market? Do you wear socks at least to hide your minging toes?

A good shoe should be comfortable without socks.

Nothing to do with comfort. Down to keeping the feet dry (ish). and smelling nice.

These. Skechers. Soft and comfy. Allow your feet to spread. Easy to kick off on the odd occasion a shop has the "Please Remove Shoes" sign.

I often see people walking around here in Samui with no shoes on. The roads are filthy, pavements cracked and uneven, and all sorts of bits of metal detritus lying about. Why would someone want to risk cuts and infection by walking on that?

Dumb as a bucket of mud comes to mind as to why barefoot....also see it on soi buahkaow pattaya.

Inside, slippers. Outside, a variety of Skechers sneakers in different styles and colors, probably around 12 pairs, some kept in Pattaya and some in Bangkok. I find they are very comfortable, especially when I am walking a lot. Easy to put on and take off and I especially like the styles that look like you have to tie the shoe laces but you don't.

Thongs when travelling locally.

I typed the words "mens thongs" into Google Images and this is exactly what came up. Undoubtedly you must be a big hit with the locals. Pink or sky blue for you?

Good pair of Skechers sneakers if I'm going somewhere, mowing the lawn, or on scooter most of the time. Otherwise flip flops around house outside. Girlfriend just bought me a good pair of Croc likes which fit better than flip flops and are more comfortable. Inside barefoot.

I assume you wear your flip flops when attending a meeting with government guys?

Of course, but not the cheapest ones.

I like the LV Oasis Mules for around the house, but I wish they came in more colors.

I am outraged that they are using a recent photo of myself in their advertising and not giving me a slice of the profits.

I shall be on to my lawyer as soon as I have managed to extract this elastic from my crack.

At home, always barefoot.

If I'm just going out to do some mall shopping I wear flat soled skateboard shoes (vans, adidas, etc)

out in the streets it's currently UnderArmor "Charged Pursuit 3" Sneakers very low profile sole and mesh toe covering

and always black and low/under ankle I bought 6 pair .. 3 solid black and 3 black with a neon green logo

at the beach it sandals ( slide type) can't deal with a piece of rubber between my toes

in the garden its over the calf height rubber boots and they are seriously thick .. no critters gonna bite me

for working out it's a pair of "Zero" Sole sneakers

anything official I still have 2 pair of Allen Edmonds Leather shoes 1black and 1 cordovan .... I tie them with Berluti knots

in the house its either leather sandals ( slide type ) or a pair of my sneakers.. ( only for indoor use )

Good foot health comes with good footwear and also taking care of your feet, keep them clean and moisted, as well remove hard skin and nails if have to.

Thailand is not well known for quality footwear, clean and nice footwear and nice feet. But some do actually take good care of their feet.

But some foreigners do have a job to do when going out in public, and not to forget when they arrive hotels, dinner or just going out, and keep in mind they are not just home back in the outback somewhere lost in translation. As well dress code and footwear when going to emigration.

Quality footwear is available here, but larger sizes can be hard to find. I import my shoes,

I disagree about Thais feet not being nice. They seem to have very healthy feet.

Quality branded footwear is more expensive than Norway even in Thailand, and dependes on observation when it comes to thais in general and their foot health. For some morbid reasons I have actually looked at thais feet in shopping malls when wife shopping just out of curiosity. It is an interesting study when waiting. looking at how they dress, make up, and how they often neglecting their feet.

I know, do not ask me why I started, at least better than sitting with a face plant in my phone.
