I've been riding Thailand roads for over 20 years, not dangerous at all, or any more dangerous than anywhere else in the world.

It's the incompetent unskilled riders that make it dangerous

The only dangers I see on Thai roads are the foreigners in their vehicles.

I went back to Australia recently, all the bloody foreigners, from the Middle East, Africans, God, you name it, they are on our roads with no knowledge of how to drive.

I read that a UK driver's licence allows you to ride a 50cc motorbike, so some Brits feel that they are legal riding these 125cc scooter s.

Would have to disagree with you here my friend. Not sure where you are in Thailand but if come here to Phuket and play Wacky Racers for a couple of days I am sure you would change your mind. 🤣

Wearing a helmet? Correct licence? Any intoxicants in his blood?

  • RIP young man. Shame on the insurance company that wriggled out of it's liability.

Could anyone give the link to that GoFundMe Travel insurance? I have been using Luma in my recents trips, but GoFundMe looks very popular.

Agree, 25+ years, and only one oops, and my fault. Driving here is safer then the USA. Especially agree with this, and that's worldwide ...

... "It's the incompetent unskilled riders that make it dangerous" ...

and usually only a danger to themselves in TH, as most driving scooters without helmets at times. Drunken or inexperienced foreigners, tourist & expats, are more of a danger at tourist, expat heavy areas than Thais on scooters.

How does a motorcycle hire dealer cover his loses when the m/cycle isn't properly insured and a complete right off?

He charges his customer IMO.

Albo is changing Australia, lots of people uneducated, 3rd world countries driving on our roads. Heavy vehicles are now driven by Indians who have bought their heavy vehicle licence, untrained and unskilled.

Careful of the fat Aussie women.

Stay in Thailand, their roads are much safer.

Rather well it seems.

If they're low class Brits they'll ride that train into the station. Americans would sue anyone within a mile who had a few dollars in their pocket.

Yep, I remember the 'incident' discussed on here/

One-off anecdote is not a solid argument towards pattern recognition and doesn't change the reality that 'younger people take more risks than older' - thats generalisation is wholly valid.

Take 1000 under 30's... and 1000 over 50's... a lot more of the under 30's will be doing silly stuff - thats just life.
