Do you think he's probing for smuggled cash? :o

More like he's 'packing it in nice and tight' :D

Who shot the sherrif??? It wasn't the deputy.

But, did the shoot-out with Sheriff John Brown and his deputy actually happen? When asked about the song's origins, Marley was cagey. "I want to say 'I shot the police' but the government would have made a fuss, so I said 'I shot the Sheriff'." Eric Clapton reckoned he got little more out of him. "He wouldn't really commit himself. He said that some parts of it were true, but he wasn't going to say which parts."

A large chocolate ginger buiscuit is a great invention. Ah, life is good!

As I post, it is 9:38 am. Due to summer daylight saving, Melbourne AU is 4 hours ahead of Thai time. What time is it at your location, Tigger?

Don't believe the clock, it's now 11.38 pm! Now that's random!

You didn't get washed away lastnight did you Soundman?? :o

Why do airlines discriminate against people of small body stature?

A 70 kilo person is charged excess baggage for a few kilos

A 120 kilo person, who carries much more weight, takes up more seat than normal person, should be charged extra too.

I believe the airlines work on an average weight per person of 85 kilos.

Unfair of airlines, speshully when ya bags mite only be 4 - 5 kilos over weight.

Ditto, the 7 kilo hand baggage rule. Wear a jacket with big pockets for heavy legal cabin stuffs.

Way back when I first flew, everyone was weighed, prior to boarding.

I remember people asked to swap seats to balance planes.........LOL

Imagine that these days.....???

My personal thoughts, people should pay for the excess body weight, let all people have a decent baggage allowance, and a FULL seat to sit in.

Not be skwished by some overweight person who should be in business class, paying for their weight and size.

What brought this on was, my observation of a normal,(small) Thai guy's discomfort for 11 hours, flying back to AKL.

The woman next to him, overflowed all over him.

I am 92 kilos..... normal beer bellied older farang guy.......LOL

Sorry in advance, if I have offended any person.

Re your post, Pete, some observations:

* You seem to have got interested in excess baggage limits VERY recently. Wouldn't be something to do with the assumed weight of a Thai BBQ pot now, would it?

* Discrimination against larger people is a difficult issue. Yes they will contribute more to the overall loading limits/fuel use, etc... but some people are naturally tall and large and others are naturally shorter and slight. Some airlines charge very large people the price of two seats. Is that fair? Maybe - I wouldn't want to be sitting beside them, but is it fair? Jury's out on that one. If they are morbidly obese, they are certainly going to have to be allocated two seats, but should they have to pay for both of them?

* Re people being weighed/moved to balance the aircraft - opportunity for a joke involving your good self and the Wright Flyer, but I'll pass on it. But you must be going back a long time - I've been flying for over 30 years and I've never been weighed.

* Baggage limits being fluid to accord with passenger weight brings the discrimination issue back into play. Again, I'm uncommitted. If the cut off is +- 1 kg baggage per 1 kg of passenger weight differential from 85 kg, that would mean that a 95kg person in economy would have (depending upon the airline) a 5kg, 10kg or 15kg allowance. Does the 50kg person then get a 35kg allowance? The problem is that if this were introduced, most passengers would need to pay excess to enable them to take the necessities and the 'skinny ones' would probably be tempted to use up their allowance with 'nice things to take'. Result; aircraft gross weight limit exceeded.

What are your thoughts, randomly of course, on this?

Ditto, the 7 kilo hand baggage rule. Wear a jacket with big pockets for heavy legal cabin stuffs.

There is actually a very good reason for that.

Objects of less than 7 kilo falling out of the overhead locker have been found to not cause significant harm to the passenger it lands on, however, heaver than that and it could break someone's neck.

The last time I flew (3 years ago) I was already aware of this. My hand luggage was a whopping 12 kilo and I got the wagging finger at check-in, I simply told them that I was going to be putting it under the seat in front of me and the problem went away.

I have had a few occasions when i had to seat next someone who you could only describe as being obese. Charge them for 2 seats, end of story in my view. Not only was this one guy wedged into his seat with fat dripping onto my personal area that i had bought and paid for but he also had B.O. that was simply repulsive. A no-go zone of 5 rows either side should have been provided. :o

I've paid good money to get obese.....................sod off twiggies !!!!

Then you can pay a little more for an extra seat. It's only the cost of 200 Big Macs :o

Five... Four.... Three.... Thunderbirds are Go!

East Coast Oz is +11 hrs GMT (includes an extra hour for daylight saving). So you posted at around 11.31pm Tue (-7 for GMT from Thailand) and I posted 17 minutes later at 10:48 am Wed. I think that's right? So you are probably now about to hit the cot (or have already done so).
