Thai Navaras 'unaffected' <script type="text/javascript"> <script style="display: none;" type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

210308_mt31.jpg A modified Nissan Navara has achieved better scores in another re-test by Euro NCAP after a dismal initial crash test held earlier this year (see Motoring, Feb 29).

The upgraded pick-up achieved three stars in adult occupant protection from the struck-through one-star rating it achieved when it was assessed alongside the Isuzu D-Max (two stars) and Mitsubishi Triton (four stars).

Euro NCAP's new assessment revealed that Nissan has effectively addressed the airbag malfunction, removing the high risk of life-threatening injuries seen in the earlier test.

As a result, Nissan promptly modified all new production vehicles and initiated a service campaign to upgrade the airbag software of all Navaras produced since 2005.

According to Siam Nissan Automobiles, Navaras sold in Thailand are not affected as they have "different specifications" from those sold in Europe.
