Along with many other provinces nationwide, the election for Provincial Administration Organization president and council members took place in all 3 Andaman coastal provinces yesterday. In Phuket only around 54% of total eligible voters came out to exercise their rights. Unofficial results shows that the candidate number two Mr. Paiboon Upattising won the president seat, with 59,994 votes while the former president Anchalee Vanit Theppabutr who re-ran in the president seat was reported to have gained 39,085 votes. Many of Mr. Paiboon’s team were also reported to have won council members seats. Mr. Paiboon, who is well known for many housing estate projects under the umbrella of ‘Phuket Villas’, was also a former senator for Phuket. Meanwhile in Krabi, a former president Mr. Somsak Kittitornkul is also reported to have led the votes ahead of a candidate from the Democrat Party.
