Australia v New Zealand: Kiwis flap away, but remain flightless

Well, I read the article - the photos showed that it was a cricket match between the Aussies and the Kiwis, but I couldn't find any information about who scored what, nor was there a result.

Is this an on-going match and the Aussie press is crowing before the result is known?

And I would like to point out that even we Brits can beat the Kiwis at cricket on occasion, so why make all these ridiculous headlines about a minor sporting event?

It's Test cricket, unfortunately losing popularity among the modern sporting generation who demand results in hours, certainly not over 5 days.

Subsequently there are daily reports on play and these tend to be a little parochial, no doubt the New Zealand press produced stories claiming that being hundreds of runs behind at the end of the second day is a cunning ploy to lure the hated Australians into complacency before dropping the axe.

All jokes aside it's a sad reflection on a once great sport that bands and costumed dancing girls have to be added to the spectacle to raise a decent crowd.

Lynton Crosby, UK Australian of the Year?

Thousands of Australians work in the UK as doctors, nurses and scientists, devoting their lives to preventing death and treating the sick. Yet this year the “UK Australian of the Year” award has gone to lobbyist Lynton Crosby whose companies have a long track record of working for “big tobacco”, and companies such as British American Tobacco and Philip Morris in both Australia and the UK.

Well, he is taking the blame for getting Call-me-Dave back into power (there was no alternative), so he needs some sort of compensation.

Personally I hold him responsible for the string of whales getting stranded on our beaches at the moment, as well as the floods that destroyed many peoples' Christmas a few weeks ago.

Of their shared boyfriend, Anna and Lucy said: "It just works."

The three share a "super king-sized bed".

I note that it is a Sydney newspaper discussing some idiots in Perth - maybe reinforcing the East-West divide?

But looking at the twins - how can a blind man be an electrician? Or is he just a typical Perth ocker?
