One of my guests has asked me where he can play golf for how much? This is really not my cup of tea.... I just know that there are 2 golf courses - Maenam and Lamai - right?

Anyone of the retired expats or of the wealthy developers can advice??

They have three holes at Fair House, south Chaweng.

A few options. Bophut Hills Golf Club is a par 3 Nine hole golf course. Not sure about current prices but have heard that there is a promotion for residents at the moment at about 550 bahts per round + caddy if required. Normal price about 900 ish bahts per round + caddy.

Santiburi Golf Club at Maenam. Stunning par 72 Championship course. 18 holes approx 4300 bahts which includes caddy and buggy. Nine holes about half that. Monday and Wednesday are promotional days and rounds are half price. Club/shoe rental available but expensive. Also a "twilight" nine holes available after 3.30 tee off at 1800 bahts. (obviously other than Mon and Wed.)

Regarding Lamai. Have not played it yet, but apparently nine holes are open and playable. Club House not completed yet. Apparently a challenging drive to get up to the course, but I cannot confirm that. I cannot also comment on prices.

Generally speaking, although the most expensive, Santiburi is the best option and a great golf experience, unless you are as bad a golfer as me!

Cheers!

http://www.bophuthillsgolf.com/map.html This is the 9 hole course in Bophut (all holes are Par 3)

Not sure how much it is to play but obviously a lot cheaper than the full course at Santiburi Maenam.

Google santiburi golf samui for details on the main course, last time I played I had to hire clubs and buy a glove and I think I paid about 6000 or maybe 7000.

I can recommend BH Golf Course, lovely little Course that isn't too much & is very welcoming for the kind of People who don't take Golf very seriously or to tell the truth, aren't the greatest Players, like me... :o

I went up to the course above Lamai (RSGCC or something like that) on a motorbike a couple of weeks back and must say that the way up is indeed challenging. Definitely need a 4WD vehicle. The course looks playable, but not finished.
