Visa - Vientiane

Featured Replies

Please can you advise:

First offical visit to Thailand - 60 day Tourist visa - extended to 90 days at Bangkok Immigration until 16th September - is it possible to do a visa run to Vientiane and get another tourist visa for 60 days ( single or double entry)? - can you extend to 90 days again at Bangkok Immigration? How many times are you allowed to do a visa run before you have to leave Thailand? Are there any restrictions? the passport holder is Burmese. The reason I am asking is a short term fix as we are trying to get at ED Visa for this person.

Many thanks

Samuie

Usually yes. You can go to Vientienne and get a Double Entry Tourist Visa free of charge. Each entry can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration.

As for a Burmese Passport holder I do not know.

I thought Burmese people didn't need a visa as they are part of ASEAN. They still need a border pass though AFAIK.

They require a visa.

Any idea if they would get one in a neighbouring country? Or would Burma be the only option.

Don't really know but do not recall any mention of them using local countries in anyone's report. So they must be very polite and not noticed; or not there.

Burmese can apply for a Thai Tourist Visa in Vientiane, however they can get only Single Entry Tourist Visa.

The 60days can be extented at Thai immigration for another 30days, cost THB 1,900.-

Not sure of how many Tourist Visa Burmese can get, but I would try to get her on a ED Visa asap.

Appreciate all the advise given by members on the forum - I know not the best of situations for us to be in!
