Jeez, April 1st came around quickly.

On new smokers, I noticed that most of them in my country appear to be young women. <_<

Finally a TV station that tells it like it is !! I wonder if they show the World Cup ?

Ian replied to one of my posts like that yesterday. All I see is....

and my post.

(Harcourt's reply, sorry).

what happened there??? Whatever I wrote disappeared....oh never mind....

Definitely not a real chat show or ad campaign.....unless it is a sneaky way by the anti-smoking league to be un-pc and get a message across by doing a parody?

I saw Ulysses G reading a book on computer hacking last time I was in his shop. B)

dam_n, I was gay for ten years and kept sleeping with women. No wonder I was confused.

I smoke, and if it is gay to smoke, I must be a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

It's good satire because those ads would clearly work, well the ones for the boys would, the ones for the girls wouldn't.

I never understand what the problem is. I have NEVER smoked but I believe it is up to every person to make an individual decision on whether to smoke, drink, drive, support port power or any other socially unacceptable behaviour.

There cannot be a person left on this planet that does not know that smoking is harmful to their health but until governments make the hard decision and stop taxing smoking and make it illegal then they will remain hypocrites we know them to be.

Back to the OP - it has been a phrase I noticed since being back in Australia. Used by both male and females under the age of 25, anything or anyone they don't like is referred to as "he/she/it is sooooooooooo gay" Is this a backlash to years of political correctness? Youth rebelling against the rules/morals/standards of their elders?

Then you have never had to quit smoking.....

:shock1:.......Oh, Harky, NOW you tell me.............

EDIT:

Why people cannot give up gaspers, amazes me.

When I was a smoker, if I managed to get a cold or koff, I gave up fags till better.

Gave up smoking 40 years ago.

Think of the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$s saved.

I've never been addicted to ciggies, but don't expect to ever give up fags ...

Yah, I don't know what happened. I had typed a full paragraph, checked it for spellng and posted it like I normally do. Then, my part had just disappeared but it left yours intact. Something weird is happening on thaivisa. I've had pictures go missing, or turn up with a red X instead.

Yes, strange, I was under the impression this forum was limited to discussions related to Thailand...Now we have gay American teenage smokers as a topic...

this is this bedlam forum, you can talk about anything... including Pickled Onions ... sometimes topics dont even need to make sense:whistling:

Silverskin pickled onions are great. But not as good as the small red ones you find in Indian restaurants.

Never had a fag ( parents could't afford the fees )

Yeah the kids do use that expression in that way, but as the dad of a 14 yo boy that uses the expression, I have the distinct impression that there is no gender bias or connotation when the teenagers use it in this way. I think of it as a homophone in the teenage lexicon....and wasn't that a great pun!?

:D

Never had a fag ( parents could't afford the fees )

A fag, (short for faggot) in the local lexicon denotes a guy who gives homosexuals their pleasure, by being the bitch..

Funny I thought smoking did that?

Sounds fair. However, someone better tell the house master at Eton before they make a film of it.

Fagging was a traditional educational practice in British boarding private schools (nearly all "public schools" in the English sense) and also many other boarding schools, whereby younger pupils were required to some extent to act as personal servants to the most senior boys.

Wiki

I used to accompany a gay friend around Edinburgh in the early 80's and was called a fag hag.

See, Pushit, we're back on a Thailand topic, discussing Abhissit's school days.

And your reticule was a "Fag Hag's Bag".

(used to be a fairly common term in the sixties, when no one knew the orientation of anyone else.)(changed with the sun rise)
