Hi Speed Unlimited Speed 4096/512

Featured Replies

I am not too savvy when it comes to understanding the way internet speed works.

I use wireless which is a 54 mbps and i use a Lan Ethernet connection which is 100 mbps

...So what do the numbers 4096/512 have to do with anything?

I have had this plan for a few years from True and wondering how good of a deal it is or if there is something better out there.

It looks a bit expensive, but it could be a business plan with less people on the line. Then its not too bad.

You are correct that lan is 100mbps an your wireles s54mbps but you would be in heaven if you could get those speeds.. your provider is the limiting factor here (even if it was not you would not get it because its the theoretical maximum)

I got 10240/512 for around 1600bt a month.

3bb, advertise 4000 but l get 5000 and between 250 and 500 up for 590+tax, happy bunny. :drunk:

Not sure about the 5Mbs, but yep, I've got the same deal and it works fine.

Might be labelled as TT and T, depending on where you are I think, but all the same company.

i dont know what a business plan is. this is for my home. what do those 2 numbers mean?

so r u supposed to change your plan every year or something since theoretically internet should keep getting cheaper/quality should rise?

What is 5mbps ??? Lan is 100mbs and wireless is 54mbps... that means you are getting what exactly?

Chunky.

The numbers are the speed at which you connect to the rest of the world (the internet), the speed of the wireless and wired connections are the speed you'll see between computers on your local network.

You have 4Mbps download and 512kbps upload to the rest of the world.

I have the same (or similar) plan via KSC. Yes, compared with others it's somewhat expensive, but mine's been working faultlessly for some years now, I have no complaints.

If you don't use P2P or other high-bandwidth services you could probably get away quite happily with one of the cheaper options.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I use 3BB and pay about 1,200 baht a month, fairly good service!

I am no expert but I think data transmission speed is measured in Bits Per Second so 5mbps = 5 mega (million) bits per second.

100mbps and 54mbps are the speeds that you can reach on your local network (LAN)internally. You can not get these speeds on the internet.

File size is measured in bytes (8 bits = 1 byte) so knowing the connection speed you can calculate how long it will take to transfer a file.

That speed currently costs 599 baht for limited connection outside Thailand to 799 for premium service (which likely is what you currently have at three times the cost). So yes you probably should be thinking of a new plan. But be aware current plans do have a total download limits below the full capacity of the speed allowed so you could be cut off if a full time down-loader and you do not limit connection speed.

Edit: but unless you check your connect speeds at modem or make speed checks you do not really know what speed you have as TRUE has upgraded many people to higher speeds without telling them. But for many places that 4k speed may be all that the lines will allow.

how can i check my speed?

if i want to change plans will they need to install a different phone cable line into my condo?

True and TT&T are two completely different companies. TT&T internet service is provided under 3BB.

Could be caused by the Speedtest Bangkok server being bogged down. I have found that I can sometimes get full speed to other Speedtest sites/servers in Thailand, but not to the Bangkok server--maybe it's being overtaxed by Expats checking their internet speed.

You seem to be connected at the same speed as me and I am using an old 750 baht per month plan (which they upgraded speed on but never advised me). My connect speed read by modem is normally 3552/576 for about the last year.

The official web site for True tests is My link

does anyone know of any true locations on rama iv or sukhumwit road between asoke and ekamai?

i tried searching their website but i cant find anything in english with regards to locations.

thanks

That is not a very realistic speed test, all inside Thailand. :bah:

Try http://speedtest.thaivisa.com/ selecting the Singapore server,

and see what speed you get.........

That is a better indication of your surfing with Thaivisa.

Must be inside Thailand, try a server in Europe for instance.rolleyes.gif

I was trying to give an indication of connect speed as he does not know how to read from modem and the in-country is the best for that. As for Singapore it is the same speeds but more delay.

You can get those speeds on the internet.

I had 100Mbps in Tokyo 5 years ago, and there are a couple of operators in Hong Kong offering 1Gbps (gigabit) internet for HK$200 a month (about 820 baht).

What you can't do is get those speeds in Thailand.

But what do you expect from a country that announces it's 3G spectrum auctions after other countries have started using 4G, and don't get me started on the analogue terrestrial TV transmissions and how awful True is compared to a decent satellite TV provider.

TrueVisions is a great satellite TV provider...the best in Thailand...just ask them. Ok, was that hard enough of a pull to get your started? ;)

Downlaod / upload speeds.

I pay 590 Baht a month from TOT so yours sounds way expensive.
