Where Are Protests Of Obama'S Wars?

Where are protests of Obama's wars?

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=181965

A record 60 Americans were killed in Afghanistan in June – the most ever in the nearly decade-long war that is not winding down, but rather intensifying under the leadership of Barack Obama, the "peace candidate" in 2008.

Worse yet, U.S. soldiers, no doubt demoralized by seemingly interminable wars on two fronts, neither of which has any clear definition of victory, are taking their own lives in record numbers – 32 just last month and 145 since Jan. 1.

My question: Where are the anti-war protests? What happened to them? Do those protesters from earlier this decade think the wars are over? Or did they really not care about these conflicts in the first place? Were they only truly interested in protesting the old leadership in the White House?

-------------

Good questions. Further proof the anti-war left is full of sh*t.

This thread should bring out quite a bit of chest beating by the usual suspects. B)

If they read the article they'll be happy because the writer - who was an original supporter of the wars - wants us to pull out of both places.

Serial killers of the state.

It seems the intensity against the war has abated somewhat since the Obama's moved into the WH.

Where is Code Pink when you need them?

Indeed. Subliminal {false} security? Rather interesting how most can be easily hypnotized, as both are cut from the same cloth of ruling elite establishment - certainly as foreign policy is applied. Perpetuating the system. Stimulation, if repeated often enough, becomes real and true.

I actually thought BO would change a few things when taking office, but as time has gone on, hes more of the same, becoming a puppet to the big multinations, and banks etc

during the presidential campaign, didnt he stress dialogue to countries and reaching out to bridge differences?

he hasnt done this to Nth Korea or Iran recently, even when Brazil and Turkey had a form of dialogue going with Iran, and a proposal of Uranium swap.

Hes alienating his supporters who voted for change, and is fast becoming a one term president imo

This is correct.....Many did have hope & after all that was his big promise....Hope & Change

But as you say & everyone see's it was a hollow promise. Start with the closing of GITMO & go down the list.

I guess it was all hope on the peoples part because the reality of looking at his top 10 campaign contributors tells the story of who he owes.....same as always

As for the one term I agree but there is also the tactic that the president before him used...Terror

If at the time of re-election an *event* occurs that would tend to again rally the voters to a president regardless of his capabilities. If all he does is promise revenge as the last one did. Sheeple take a long while to sort the wheat from the chaff

So, people are not happy with Obama, including those on the Left. So why does he get a free pass on the wars (no protests)? He's added tens of thousands of troops to Afghanistan and more soldiers are dying there now than before when Bush was in office. The war hasn't gotten better yet the anti-war protests have stopped. Obama isn't super popular yet the war protests have stopped. It's obvious that the "anti-war" protestors were FOS.

I think it is not as you say....meaning there are less protests over Afghanistan than Iraq

I mean really there is/was not much of either

More an indication of the current generation than the presidents mentioned.

Also both so called wars are not wars at all are they? Then again I guess VN wasn't either

But if you do a google for Afghanistan war protests & do the same for Iraq war protests you will not see any real difference.

The difference is just your perception IMO

Is it that there are less protests, or that the protests are reported less?

It was the media that put BO in the White House, it is the media which will keep him there. They will not dare criticise a black man, that they previously praised as being the potential saviour of the US.

Mr. Bear has nailed it. The reason you don't hear of any protests are because the mainstream media don't wish to report it.

Cindy Sheehan is still around so I have heard on the internet. I have certainly heard nothing on the MSM about her since GWB left the Oval Office.

I expect the real reasons for any lack of solid news is as stated by Mr. Bear.

Careful there Humpf. Nam, will put you in the redneck, KKK, string um up boys club.

( Like the Tufty Club but with lynchings )

Don't worry, if you claim that the holocaust was questionable he will likely cut you some slack.

who knows, perhaps people are/were preoccupied with things closer to home

BP oil spill

home foreclosures

bank bail outs

healthcare reform

I think the unwillingness of the media to report (because of Obama) it has also led to less protests. Do people want to protest if no one will be there to put them on TV? Let's also not forget that many of the protestors were students and they love Obama. They probably can't bring themselves to protest against him. Yet.

He was communication director for Kucinich and worked for ACORN? Unfortunately, I don't have time to watch them all the way through.

Any American that starts to question the tyrannical nature of the USA as it is shaping up to be... is worth listening to in my books.

Here is another:

Sneak Peek: Inside "Top Secret America" by grtv FRONTLINE goes inside The Washington Post's major two-year examination into the massive, unwieldy, top secret world the U.S. government has created in response to 9/11. Coming fall 2010 to PBS.

A major examination by Washington Post reporters Dana Priest and William Arkin is the subject of an upcoming FRONTLINE documentary produced by veteran producer Michael Kirk. The Post's two-year investigation looks at the top secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001—a world that has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that few know how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or how many agencies duplicate work being done elsewhere.

Military spending as a percentage of GDP.

The 2009 U.S. military budget is almost as much as the rest of the world's defense spending combined.

What happens when some more evil bastards of the Cheney ilk get full control again??

As it should be..........Given how & why America came to be....Its citizens should be vigilant about their freedoms being trampled in the name of/under the guise of security.

He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.

WHY is the rest of the world WASTING their money?! At least the US uses its military. Most other countries spend billions at the expense of their own people and have nothing to show except the occasional parade.

Are you really Michael Moore? :D

Same could be said for car, fire, home, health insurance till you need it I guess ;)

But actually in regards to military & defense the US should in fact spend way less than any other country....

Why? well because we American citizens own more weaponry than any other private sector of the world.

We are in fact quite capable of defending ourselves from any physical invasion.

In fact in just 3 months Americans bought enough guns to outfit the entire Chinese and Indian army’s combined.

They also bought 1,529,635,000 rounds of ammunition in just the month of December 2008. Yeah that is right, that is Billion with a “B”. This number takes no accounting of reloading or reloaded ammunition. Which I myself do not so much for the saving but the enjoyment/accuracy.

So when are they finally going to step up Fly?

Americans are being shafted big time and all they do is bend over deeper. I guess being the most drugged citizens on Earth most of them are just watching Cramer spouting his pep talk, watching the next episode of American Idol or whatever it is that keep them glued to the screen, Prozac nation at it's best.

At least the people here in Thailand have the guts to stand up and sacrifice their lives for what they believe in, no matter if you think it is right or wrong.

Saw a clip the other day of a girl that was arrested during the G20 protest in the only country that is above the US, she was blowing soap bubbles at a policy enforcer.

Harmless people being tasered till death, what a great nation on Earth if not the greatest.

They fight us for our freedom, what a joke.

When the need arises I would guess alex..

But as you can see my post was in reply to Koheestis post about the need for a military I was not referring to any civil unrest

There is no need at this juncture I assure you.

As for the drugged people....Dont you hail from an Amsterdam like area? :whistling:

As for myself I see nothing like you describe in my corner of the country.

As to the Thai's yes.... well they do group up dont they? But they need some form of tactic or at the very least their own snipers eh?

As for the "they fight us for our freedoms" comment....

I am guessing your referring to the various military industrial complex actions around the world?

If so & if you have seen any of my posts on the subject you know I am not one of the mesmerized.

But as to the majority of People of the USA yes they are very good & very great.... as are most people of any country. As always some like yourself confuse the military/government actions with the people of the country your picking on at the moment. ;)

At least the people here in Thailand have the guts to stand up and sacrifice their lives for what they believe in, no matter if you think it is right or wrong.

There are a lot more people "sacrificing their lives for what they believe in" in the USA, but because you do not agree with them, you want to say that a lot of ignorant peasants being manipulated by the richest man in the country are somehow superior.

Silence is foolish if we are wise, but wise if we are foolish.

I'm not sure the policy of having no defense but kicking their butts AFTER the enemy lands on our shores would go over to well with the electorate regardless of party. ;)

For what they believe - and 1000 baht/day.

"Where Are Protests Of Obama'S Wars?"

I didn't realise that Obama had actually started any wars. I thought he was just trying to manage those started by his predecessors.
