Or Bishop's Finger Bitter. And the bread has to be very crusty and sliced thick....and there has to be lashings of butter.....and a wedge of pigeon pie on the side wouldn't go astray.

I tried Branston pickle once. It was alright-- I can't say I saw the cause for the avid devotion it has and I certainly wouldn't offer it as a dinner meal. But it was ok.

Dinner guests I would invite would have to be willing to eat very spicy Thai food, veggie options would be available, and smokers would have to smoke their ciggies outside. Table manners is a good thing so if you slurp, gasp, snort or make other such disgusting noises while you eat, you are uninvited.

But, that said, I can't think of anyone here I wouldn't mind meeting at least once. And a few I'd like to see again :)

did you notice you are sitting at my table?

Will you have tuna sandwiches?

And maybe we could pretend that I gatecrashed, so I can maintain a persona as being a bit of a rebel.

Don't tell anybody though.

What's it with the Tuna Sandwiches?

Come on should be Cheese and Branston

:( I just want to have a tuna sandwich, the type i make back home, you know with the unsliced loaf of bread you buy from brumbies, sliced thickly, so fresh mmmmm and the smell, then you get the tuna, pepper, spot of salt, mayo and even just the slightest tinge of lemon.....of course there has to be real butter on the bread. STOP TALKING ABOUT TUNA SANDWICHES please :(

branston pickle.... cheddar cheese ..... butter ....baked potato......

Oh..God...been so long..... smiley-face-drool.gif

Crusty warm fresh bread with real salted butter. The best cheese available, Branston Pickle, radish to dip in the butter with a pinch of salt by the side. Fresh salad leaves tomatoes and tangy onions. A glass ( or three ) of real ale and a river side pub to sit outside and enjoy the feast...................bliss

I'm in the mood for a ploughman's lunch now. They do a fantastic spread at the londoner.

 too funny.

Years ago I was at a mates place & I saw a video (not a dvd) sitting on his coffee table, it was labled "Ploughman". As I was waiting for him to get home and had nothing else to do, I dropped it into the video player & was instantly greeted with "Ploughman" doing what a man with that sort of name does best  . That name has always made me laugh ever since.

Anyway, what on earth is a Ploughmans lunch?

Whatever Mrs Ploughman put's in his lunch-box.

I for one am offended that a fellow Bedlamite is insinuating that he is contemplating stealing a working mans food. ( even if he is a cockney ).

There are various recipe's on this theme but usually it consists of bread, cheese, pickles, and salad and/or fruit. I always have a Pork pie with mine with English Mustard but I don't think that is part of the original version. :licklips:
