Planning continues for Pattaya’s new Monorail network

PATTAYA: -- When Khun Itipon was campaigning to become Mayor of Pattaya in 2008, one of his election promises was to install a monorail network here in Pattaya. At the time, the ambitious plan was welcomed by the people of Pattaya, including foreign tourists who believed the monorail would transform Pattaya. It has taken the Mayor many meetings to instigate his plans and on Wednesday Morning at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Itipon chaired a meeting to discuss the logistics of constructing the monorail and how it may impact the local community and the local environment.

Sorry,The Simpsons writers are good but there aint no comedy like Pattaya City Hall

How does the Pattaya baht bus/fake taxi "meter" mafia feel about this? Sounds like a political ploy to keep a fantasy alive. When is he up for election again?

in drawing plans for the mono rail have the factored in that Second Road is likely to be under the sea by the time they start the project?

Trains in the sky - more like pie in the sky!!

Thanks, man...gave me a good chuckle on that one! :D

Was wondering to put a bet on that "they will never complete it in a million years", but then I will not be around then to collect.

On Soi Siam Country Club there is a billboard showing the monorail as it is a fact already.

Same billboard outside Huay Yai city hall, bright red monorail!

It's easier to billboard than done. Remember that Ocean One Tower thingie that was supposed to make Jomtien into Dubai? Still a dirt pit.

Ha ha, you can see the little red train going round and round the beach on this site, www.smilepattaya.com !!

I also dreamed about a 30 mns ride BTS / MRT / SRT / SHINKANSEN/ TGV from Bkk to Pattaya, but it is still not here...

The difference with the "officials" is that i keep my dreams for myself :-)

Excellent link, looks like they are going to put about 300m width onto the beach as well. :D

Unnecessary flame and quoted reply deleted.

Will the monorail be a toytown theme or a more modern one with a spiderman train?
