I am putting this out to any one who can shine a light on it.

Is there anyone out there who knows if a quad can be road legal.

If so how do I go about this.??

Yup.

.

here's one sort-of answer. When, if ever, you see a Quad bike with a proper Thai number plate on it, you'll know they can be fully legal. But don't waste your life waiting. The self-important hi-so Thai pratt who started this craze on the Samoeng loop breaks the law twice a day.

Sadly, so do his tourist customer/drivers. Without knowing it, of course.

OP, they're not legal (and I don't think they can be). Not sure what forbids them so.

you must somehow be able to make them road legal as they hire them out in Phuket and Pattaya. But to be fair the ones that are hired out are on the upper price scale not the 50k thb ones like at amourn.

OP, no, sorry to let you know quads/atv can not be road legal in Thailand. 3 wheel motocy can, cars can, but no atv/quads.

as I recall max fine for using them on public roads is 500 baht. but if involved in accident, major costs involved, possible inprisonment

if you see a quad with lisence plate, its fake, IOW from another bike/vehicle.
