Wireless Broadband Connection

Featured Replies

I have just had a 512kbps TOT broadband connection set up. Now I’m thinking I would like to get a wireless set up going, so that I can use my laptop to surf the net in the garden. How difficult and expensive is this and what do I need?

Thanks

Probably top price would be about 6,000 baht getting a new modem/router/wireless such as SMC 7904 and USB wireless adapter (if required for your laptop). Considerably less if you have wireless on your laptop and don't want the added security of a router (or don't have a desktop).

Given that you have a wireless network card in you laptop, all you need is a wireless router connected to your ISP.

For every computer you want to connect to the internet, you must install in them a wireless network card.

Depending on the size of your house and garden this should be sufficient (try everything out in the same room first).

If you cannot get a connection from your position in the garden, you may need to purchase and set up, some additional wireless access points.
