So sad to hear Ali is ill. A great great man - funny, brave, dignified. It's a shame boxing is such a farce today when you were privileged enough to have seen Ali in some of his greatest fights.

Bob Beaman's recording breaking long-jump at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico.

He beat the previous world record by an incredible 2 ft with a jump of 29.2 ft.

The record stayed unbroken for a further 22 years until broken in 1990.

Never seen before Beamon's record measured in feet always 890 cm. I'm only used to metric system.

Some news reports (unconfirmed) coming from the US today suggest Ali is very ill, unable to talk and has only a few months to live.  :o

I saw an interview with his daughter at the Melbourne Cup earlier this month, she said that he was doing OK.
