PHUKET: -- To mark World Blood Donor Day today the Phuket Regional Blood Center and Phuket Red Cross are arranging special activities in Phuket.

Phuket Governor Tri Augkadachara kicked off the activities by honoring 100 Phuket Public Health Volunteers with certificates in a ceremony at Phuket Community Hall.

Also receiving pins were people who reached donation milestones in multiples of 24, with the maximum pin for those who have donated 108 times.

There will also be a number of exhibits on related topics, such as how to register to register eyes and vital organs after one passes away.

At the regional blood center at Saphan Hin, those who make donations from 8:30am to 8pm will receive special commemorative T-shirts and all who take part will be treated to lunch.

At 4pm there will be a lucky draw for all who made donations at the center in the month of June.

Medical staff from Mission Hospital will also be on hand to give free vision tests, first aid training and more.

For more information contact the center (T: 076-251176 ext 2; 081-9588854).

It's a great shame that the Gazette apparently don't understand that maps should have north at the top.
