Kat Dee - แคดดี้ - caddy

That's the idea!

What about "aim two feet to the left"?

  • Dtrong Bpai - ตรง - straight

  • Kat Dee - แคดดี้ - caddy

  • Leng Song Foot Sai - เล็งสองฟุตซ้าย - aim two feet to the left

The one I love is that Thai word for "Rescue Club" - the fairly recently introduced Club which is somewhere between an Iron and a Wood.

In Thai Golf parlance it's called - กะเทย (Katoey); in more usual usage it translates as trans-sexual or transvestite.

Grip วิธีจับด้ามกอล์ฟ witi ja[ dam go(l)f

Aim เพ่งมอง มองดูหลูม paing mong mong doo luum

Stance การยืนทรงตัว gan yeun son' dtua

Position ตำหแน่งของลูก(กอล์ฟ) dtamneang korg luk

That's the only interesting one really, these are descriptions and could be said another way I suppose. Mostly I find if the caddy has been around they attempt the English.

ตามลม dtam lom is downwind

ต้านลม dtan (falling tone) lom into wind

These are used and can be confusing.

Try these for conversation and then just ask what you want, it isn't difficult with all the visual aids you have on a golf course, and the caddy can teach you the Thai. That can be fun.

When asking for that club it must be said with a wave of a limp wrist and a hand on the hip!
