Highway #3 Pattaya To Trat, Bikes Allowed?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to go to Koh Chang from Pattaya on my motorbike and was wondering if bikes are allowed on highway 3? If not does anyone know a good alternative route?

Thanks in advance

John

Highway 3 is also known as Sukhumvit, and yes Motobikes are allowed

No problem using highway 3. But a boring ride unless you make side excursions on the way. (and Im talking scenery, not bars)

Seems u may not be experienced at touring in Thailand??

Make sure you wear protective gear, as much for sun and wind protection as accident. The road is in reasonable condition but not that wide so be aware of the pressure waves and suction of the big tour buses as they hurtle past you....within inches......even if u are doing 120kph or so!!!

The road around Koh Chang is in places steep and windy and 100% no place for some spirited riding.......You will meet many inexperienced riders on rental bikes that cannot handle the road conditions and will be on the wrong side of the road coming toward you...be aware always.

Good luck and have a great trip.
