Accident Impatient Motorcyclist Rides Through Railway Barrier, Wife Falls Off & Injured
Picture courtesy of Amarin A woman, riding pillion on a motorcycle, was injured after she collided with a lowering railway barrier in Bangkok, in an incident that serves as a stark warning to road users about the dangers of ignoring safety signals. A video clip, widely shared on Thai social media via the page “อยากดังเดี๋ยวจัดให้ รีเทิร์น part 6” (translated: “If You Want to Be Famous, I’ll Make You Famous – Return Part 6”), shows a man and woman attempting to cross a railway track on a motorcycle as the barrier was coming down to stop traffic for an approaching train. While the man managed to duck under, the barrier struck the woman riding behind him, knocking her off the vehicle. She sustained facial injuries and was seen staggering away from the railway line. The man stopped and ran back to assist her. The clip was captioned sarcastically: “If you’re in such a hurry, why didn’t you leave yesterday? Was it worth it?” The incident occurred near the level crossing adjacent to Wat Nang Nong on Wutthakat Road in Bang Kho district, Bangkok. The crossing, located on a bend, is controlled by railway staff and fitted with dual boom barriers. Locals report the barriers were only recently installed, replacing a previous wire-rope system. Reporters visited the scene and spoke with “Pa Kai”, a 72-year-old curry vendor whose stall is located near the crossing. Although she did not witness the actual moment of impact, she saw the aftermath as the injured woman tried to stand up before being helped to the roadside by her presumed partner. Emergency services later transported the victim to hospital. Pa Kai said this was not the first such incident. She admitted that many motorcyclists frequently ignore the barriers to avoid waiting for trains to pass, even though the wait time is usually only a few minutes. She recalled previous incidents where riders were injured after being struck by the barrier. “As a member of the community, I just want to urge people to stay calm and wait. It’s not worth risking your life or damaging property,” she said. Officials from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) have confirmed that crossing the barriers while they are in operation is a criminal offence. If a vehicle damages the railway’s property, such as hitting the barrier, the offender may face legal action. SRT officials are required to report such incidents to the police, and the Department of Land Transport may record the offence, potentially preventing the driver from renewing their licence. The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter enforcement and greater public awareness to prevent further injuries, or worse, at railway crossings across the country. Israel Vows to Keep Troops in Security Zones Across Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria
I do not support Israel bulldozing homes and farms outwith Israel’s internationally recognized borders, dispossessing and expelling the occupants. This to me meets the definition of both land grab and ethnic cleansing. I do not support Israel seizing land in Lebanon, Gaza or Syria, I consider it all to be a land grab. The UN failed. So how do they stop the rockets from Hezbollah without being there and having a buffer zone? How do they stop jihadist forces moving into the buffer zone that separates Syria from Israel? Israel has promised another Oct 7th will never happen again. If it did you do you think would be blamed? Can you show me links to the ethnic cleansing that you are claiming in the above? You can't because its false inflammatory claims. Israel has been offering residents of southern Syria near the border the opportunity to work in Israel while tempting them with attractive wages, the Saudi news network Al-Arabiya reported Monday. https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-reportedly-offering-syrians-from-buffer-zone-to-work-in-israel/
